-The patient is prescribed Lasix

What is the indication for the medication?


-The indications for Lasix include medical conditions including edema, CHF, liver disease or kidney disease. Lasix is a loop
diuretic that prevents the body from absorbing too much salt. Instead, the salt is passed in the urine.

What is being monitored? Labs, I&Os, weights, vital signs?

-I&Os are very closely monitored. Daily weights are taken at the same time with minimal clothing.

-Moniter BP and pulse before and during administration

-Moniter electrolytes, renal and hepatic function and glucose

Are any other medications affected by the diuretic?

-Some drugs that interact with Lasix are Lisinopril, metformin, and metoprolol

What is the patients knowledge of the medications he/she is prescribed?

-The patient understands that she needs to take the Lasix pills to get rid of the extra fluid resulting from CHF.
