Abstract

Due to the dispersion and randomness of photovoltaic (PV) power generation, the photovoltaic
output power is fluctuant and if it is connected to the grid then it can lead to the instability in
the power system due to its variable output. Output of PV depends on the irradiation and the
atmospheric temperature, if any these two things vary then output varies. If this system
connected to the grid as it is then it produce fluctuations in the system which cause instability.
Inspite of this if proper control technique is used with the PV system then it plays a very
important role in making the system stable.
The work in the project concentrate on the part of suppression of the low frequency oscillation.
If there is low frequency fluctuation occurs in the system due to the fault or the sudden change
in heavy load then PV can help in mitigate those low frequency oscillation whose range is
around 0.1-2Hz. Low Frequency oscillation is very dangerous as is it does not supress then the
generator goes out of step which leads to the instability in the power system. For that output of
PV should maintain constant. To maintain its output constant and for maximum utilization of
PV MPPT is used. A battery is also connected with the system so that it can help in mitigation
of these oscillations.
