Teaching with and without technology

The main aim of this essay is to write about how to teach with and without technology in a classroom.
There are different ways to do it, in this essay we are going to talk about how.

First of all, the teacher starts showing to the students a slide with pictures about relationships. For
many teachers, presentation software has become an important way of organizing, storing and
showing learning content (Scrivener, 2013). Then, the teacher asks the students questions about the
pictures (appendix B) because students are more likely to remember words if they are related to them
(Essential Teacher Knowledge, 2013). In addition, the teacher elicits responses from students and
clarifies definitions by matching them with their meanings and drills the words with the students.

On the other hand, if we teach without technology, we would use the questions on slips of papers and
ask the students to discuss in pairs. After that, we would elicit, clarify and drill the words with the
students using flashcards. Then, students would work on the activity (see appendix A) with their
partners. Also, another way to do this activity would be using words containing cards and ask the
students to match the definitions of the activity. Additionally, the students will work in pairs on the next
activity (see appendix A).

To sum up, we believe there are different ways to teach in the classroom, whether using technology
or not; but it depends on how the teacher wants to work and the facilities of the school.
