TheAssignRestraints/Displacementsoptionallowsyoutoassign:

XYZrestraint(zerodisplacement)boundaryconditionstosurfaces,edgesorpoints

Fixed(nonzero)displacementboundaryconditionstosurfaces,edgesorpoints

AssignRestraints

Toassignrestraints:

1.SelecttheLoads&Restraints workflowtab.

2.SelectAssignRestraints/Displacements fromthetoolbarorthe
Restraints/Displacementsmenu.

3.YouwillseetheAddRestraint/Displacementdialog.Selectthetypeofrestraintyouwouldliketo
apply(e.g.RestrainX,RestrainXYZ,etc),andchooseaselectionmode(surfaces,edgesor
points).

4.Usethemousetoselectthedesiredsurfaces,edgesorpointsinthe2Dor3Dview.

5.SelectApply,pressEnterorrightclickandselectDoneSelectiontoapplytherestraintstothe
selectedsurfaces,edgesorpoints.

6.Repeatsteps3to5ifnecessarytoapplydifferentrestraintsasrequired.
7.WhenfinishedselectCloseorpressEscapetoexittheoption.

Therestraintswillbedisplayedinthe2Dand3DViewsassymbolsorcolours,seetheShowRestraints
topicformoreinformation.

AssignDisplacements

Toassigndisplacements:

1.SelectAssignRestraints/Displacements andselecttheDisplacementoption.

2.ThedialogwillthenallowyoutoenterdisplacementinformationintheXYZdirections.
3.Enterthedisplacement(s),staginginformationandselectionmode.
4.Usethemousetoselectthedesiredsurfaces,edgesorpointsinthe2Dor3Dview.
5.SelectApply,pressEnterorrightclickandselectDoneSelectiontoapplythedisplacement
boundaryconditionstotheselectedsurfaces,edgesorpoints.

6.WhenfinishedselectCloseorpressEscapetoexittheoption.

Thedisplacementboundaryconditionswillbedisplayedinthe2Dand3DViewsasarrowswithvalues.
