A GUIDE TO DEVELOP A RESEARCH GAP (CO4:PO12)

This will provide step-by-step method to develop a research gap through comprehensive review of literature
search. Student needs to choose only ONE sub-study of research area to complete this task. Please jot down your
finding in the given flowchart. Writing a proper citation and references are also exercised in this task. Please
discuss with your supervisor to complete this task.

LEVEL 1: (please identify your research area)

IDENTIFY
RESEARCH AREA

(you need to identify sub-study, any variables & parameters that are involved, methods,
instruments, standard method that need to refer/ guideline)
LEVEL 2:
RECOGNIZE

(you need to produce a table of comparision. Arrange data from same idea of study by different
researcher)
COGNITIVE DOMAIN

LEVEL 3:
APPLY

(you need to analyze you finding. i.e. strengths & weaknesses)

LEVEL 4:
ANALYZE

(you need to interprets the data that you have reviewed)

LEVEL 5:
SYNTHESIZE

(Based on the data that you have synthesize, criticize and evaluate, then you need to propose on
what you need to study to fill in the research gap. just a minor gap is acceptable for undergraduate
LEVEL 6: student. e.g. different variables)
