Mr. Nakano has an extensive background working in the housing industry with over 19 years of public housing experience. He was the Executive Director of Derby Housing Authority since 2007 overseeing the operations of 3 state elderly developments and a Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program. Mr. Nakano has a proven performance driven track record of securing federal funding levels of $2.7 million annually and achieving high performance standards in ‘compliance with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Under Steve Nakano’s leadership the Derby Housing Authority’s management has been assessed by HUD as a High Performer for 7 consecutive years with a recent SEMAP score of 100% and 145 total points out of 145 points. ‘The Authority is certain that Mr. Nakano will direct the Ansonia Housing Authority with the utmost professionalism while increasing the level of public housing assistance services available to Ansonia’s residents. Ansonia Housing Authority manages two federal developments for elderly and disabled participants, Monsignor Hynes Apartments and John J. Stevens Apartments, and one state elderly development, James J. O’Donnell Apartments. The Agency also administers a Housing Choice Voucher Program funded by HUD to assist low and moderate-income families, the elderly, and the disabled to afford housing in the private market. a
