JamesHanson,anactorandreligionprofessoratSt.OlafCollegeinNortheld,Minn.,
wasdoingasoloshowabouttheapostlePaulacoupleofyearsagowhenheshareda
secretwithJohnWoehrle.

HansontoldWoehrlethathehadbeenmolestedasateenagerbyaLutheranpastorin
Moorhead,Minn.,wherehegrewup.Theclericwasafamilyfriend.

Woehrle,aplaywright,actor,directorandteacherwhowashelpingHansonstagethe
production,consoledhim.HesuggestedthatHansonsharehisstoryinaplay.

WhileclergyabusehasgottenalotofpressinmovieslikeSpotlightandothershows,
therehasntbeenalotfromthevictimsperspective,Hansonsaid.Iwantedtoshow
therippleeectsoftheabuseonthevictim,thefamily,thecommunityatlarge.Its
corrosiveanduglystuthattookme17yearstoacknowlege,butIvegottentoagood
placenow.

students.HeandHansonalsoactintheproduction,whichstirsvividmemoriesfor
Hanson.
