Localutilitydistributionnetworksarebecomingincreasingcomplicated,morechallengingtooperateandpotentiallylessstableduetotherisingpresenceofcustomerownedequipmentthat
impactstheoptimalcoordinationofresourcesacrossthenetwork.Equipmentsuchassolarpanels,smallwindturbines,andotherDistributedEnergyResources(DERs),aswellasstorage
systemssuchasbatteriesallhaveaneffectontheelectricitydistributionsystemoperatedbythelocalutility.Thereisaneedforasystemthatallowsrealtimemonitoringandcontrolofbothutility
gridassetsandcustomerownedequipmentandtheSeekerissolicitingideasonhowtocreatesuchasystem.
ThisisanIdeationChallenge,whichhasthefollowinguniquefeatures:
Thereisaguaranteedaward.Theawardswillbepaidtothebestsubmission(s)assolelydeterminedbytheSeeker.Thetotalpayoutwillbe$15,000,withatleastoneawardbeingno
smallerthan$5,000andnoawardbeingsmallerthan$1,000.
TheSolversarenotrequiredtotransferexclusiveintellectualpropertyrightstotheSeeker.Rather,bysubmittingaproposal,theSolvergrantstotheSeekeraroyaltyfree,perpetual,
andnonexclusivelicensetouseanyinformationincludedinthisproposal,includingforpromotionalpurposes.
SubmissionstothisChallengemustbereceivedby11:59PM(USEasternTime)onOctober23,2016.

Latesubmissionswillnotbeconsidered.
AftertheChallengedeadline,theSeekerwillcompletethereviewprocessandmakeadecisionwithregardstotheWinningSolution(s).AllSolversthatsubmitaproposalwillbenotifiedonthe
statusoftheirsubmissionshowever,nodetailedevaluationofindividualsubmissionswillbeprovided.

Submitinformationconsideredinthepublicdomainwithoutanylimitationsonuse

Solversshouldnotrevealanyconfidentialinformationintheirsubmissions.OftentheIdeationChallengewillbefollowedbyoneormoreoftheotherthreeChallengetypestofurtherdevelop
theideasandgainIntellectualPropertyprotectionwhentheconcepthasbeenwelldefined.
