1 Alert GUNNER Alertsthe entire crew that someone in thecrewwillbe


firing an engagement using theprimaryweapon,main
gun or coax. Vehicles with only one primary firer may
omit this element. It must be used when an alternate
firerisdirectedtoengage(loader,rearbank).

2 WeaponorAmmunition SABOT Identifies the ammunition to fire, requiring the gunner


to ensure the ammunition is properly indexed,andthe
loader (Abrams) what to load after the initial round is
fired. Vehicles mounting single weapons (caliber .50
only)mayomitthiselement.

3 Description PC A clear and concise target description for the firer to


identify. VCs must use modifiers when multiple
targetsarepresented.

4 Direction TWOOCLOCK This is required when the VC cannot lay the gun for
direction (such as VC does not have the capability to
movetheturrettothetargetsgeneraldirection).

5 RangeorElevation ONEFOURHUNDRED Thisisrequiredwhenthefiringplatformsfirecontrol


systemdoesnotprovidetheaccuraterangetotarget.

6 Execution FIRE TheVC is the ONLY crewmemberauthorizedtoissue


the command of execution. This cannot be delegated
tothegunner.

7 Termination CEASEFIRE ANY member of the crew can terminate an


engagement.

EXECUTION DESCRIPTION

FIRE Standardcommandofexecutionforallweaponsystems.

FIREANDADJUST This tells thegunner (or loader) that he will not receive a subsequent fire command and must conduct the
engagement on his own. Once this command is given, the firer can continue to engage the target until itis
destroyed. If additional threats present themselves, the firer must alert the crew by announcingtheweapon
heplanstofireandatargetdescription.

(FROMMYPOSITION), WhentheVCengagesfromhisposition,hemustannounceONTHEWAYpriortosqueezingthe trigger just


ONTHEWAY* asany other firer would. His announcement of FROMMYPOSITIONalertsthecrewthathewill befiringthe

UP AnnouncedbytheLoader/Gunnerwhentheroundspecifiedinthefirecommandisloaded.

IDENTIFIED ThegunnerusesthistermtoinformtheVCthathehaslocatedthetarget(s)statedinthefirecommand.He
shouldreadbackthetargetdescriptionIdentifiedTank,PC,Troops.

CANNOTIDENTIFY This term informs the VC that the gunner cannot find the target. The VC must redirect the gunner onto the
target,relaytheweapon,orengagethetarget.

ONTHEWAY Thisterminforms all crew membersthataweaponisbeingfired,alertingthemtosensethe round. Thefirer


mustannouncethispriortofiring.

TARGET Announcedwhenthetargetoranypartofthetargetishit.

TARGETREENGAGE Used rarely, if a target is hit but the desired effect is not achieved, the VC announces TARGET
REENGAGE.Thesetwowordstogetheractasthealerttothecrewthatthefirer willbe firing anotherroundor
burst.
