Northeastern High School- Agricultural Education Teacher and FFA Advisor August 2014 to Present

Served Agricultural Education Teacher at Northeastern High. Taught Animal Science 1-Honors, Animal Science 1,
Animal Science 2-Honors, Animal Science 2, and Veterinary Assisting
Served as FFA Co-Advisor for a chapter of 130 members and established continuous membership growth over 3
years. I oversaw all local FFA Events.
Ran and improved the School Livestock Farm that included Show Boer Goats, Layer Chickens, Peacocks, Rabbits,
Geese, and an Alpaca.
Trained multiple CDE Teams included Vet Science (1st in State), Livestock Evaluation (2nd in the State), Poultry
Evaluation (1st in the Northeast Region) , Horse Evaluation, Food Science (4 th in the State).
Created and established the Boer Goat Show Team which student raised and showed Market and Breeding Does at
the North Carolina State Fair and the Albemarle Spring Livestock Show. Students have ranked in the top of their
classes.
Created and conducted all Department Communications including the Website www.northeasternag.weebly.com ,
Facebook Page, Email List Serve, and News Releases.
Successfully created 20 new internship opportunities for students including at local businesses, Veterinary Clinics,
and the On Site Farm.

Bertie Early College- Agricultural Education Teacher August 2012 to July 2014
Served Agricultural Education Teacher at Bertie Early College. While at Bertie Early College, I taught the following
courses: Agribusiness Management Trends and Issues, Biotechnology and Agriscience Research, Horticulture 1,
Horticulture 2, Animal Science 1, and Animal Science 2. I also established the Biofuels Program and the Animal
Science Program at Bertie Early College.

Taught 2 years in a 1:1 environment as a BYOD school as well as Chromebooks that are provided for the students
from the Golden Leaf Foundation.
As FFA advisor, I increased the FFA membership by 40% and had received the 100% Membership Award for 2 years
in a row.
Served in the North Carolina Biotechnology and Agriscience Industry Council to bring local industries to work with
schools to provided employment for students and co-teaching opportunities.

Work Experience
NCSU Crop Science Department- Research Assistant June 2011 to August 2012
Worked under Dr. Ron Heiniger, Extension Crop Science Specialist at the Vernon James Center. I worked with
various research projects involving corn, soybeans, and wheat across eastern North Carolina. This included Field
Labor and compiling data sheets. I also worked with preparing and conducting Local Field Days for farmers
including the Black Lands Field Day.

Mares Nest Training Facility May 2005 to March 2011


Managed and cared for 15 horses and up keep with the barn. This included harrowing the pastures, fixing fences,
cleaning the barn, mixing feed, etc.
Caretaker of 15 horses. Conducted night checks, feeding, rotating from pastures, etc.
Worked as Assistant Trainer under Paula Hollowell (NC State Alumni). I worked all horses there for training in
English and Western disciplines. I also did ground training and started our young training horses. Many times I have
been the first person on the horses back.
Experienced in operating heavy farm machinery.

North Carolina State University- Teaching Assistant January 2010 to December 2010
I was a teaching assistant to Dr. Jeanette Moore and Dr. Steven Chavez for ANS 150- Introduction to Animal Science
and ANS 231- Nutrition of Domestic Animals Laboratory. As a TA for Dr., Moore, I graded papers and handled
attendance. As a TA for Dr. Chavez, I taught labs on different topics of Nutrition including feedstuffs and dissecting
fresh goat carcasses for gastrointestinal tract comparisons.

North Carolina State University- Equine Educational Unit January 2009 to May 2009
Assist in the feeding and care of the research and breeding stock on the facility.
Performed artificial insemination and training.
