METHODS: This research is using the cross sectional approach. The research was located in
the Secretariat of Jambi Province on may 18 2015 until june 1 2015 which amount to 90 peoples
were chosen by stratified random sampling technique.
RESULT: The prevalence of hypertension in civil servant in this research is 17.8%. About
44.4% of civil servant were current smoker and 10 people had high blood pressure, 53.3% of
civil servant do not exercise regularly and 10 people had high blood pressure, and 42.% were
obesity and 6 people had high blood pressure. The civil servant who have high blood pressure
and 3 risk factor of cardiovascular disease is 12.5%, 2 risk factor of cardiovascular disease is
37.5% and 1 risk factor is 50% while civil servant who do not have high blood pressure but have
3 risk factor of cardiovascular disease is 8.1%, 2 risk factor of cardiovascular disease is 24.3%,
1 risk factor of cardiovascular disease is 54% and 13.5% do not have a risk factor.
CONCLUSION: The prevalence of hypertension in this research is 17.8%. About 44.4% of civil
servant were current smoker, 53.3% of civil servant do not exercise regularly, and 42.% were
obesity.
