Dear Dayton Christian School System Parents:

I am excited and humbled by the opportunity to serve as the newly appointed President and CEO of DCSS. It is with joy
that I look forward to serving your family in my new role. What an honor it is to follow the lead set forth by someone as
loved and respected as Bud Schindler and to persist in glorifying God’s kingdom. Likewise, we are greatly blessed that
Lee Reno will serve as Director of Educational Services.

Exciting changes are on the horizon. The 2010-11 school year is fast approaching, and there are many projects underway
behind the scenes. There will be a number of changes in how we process finances, communications, and how we will
market ourselves to the community. One of our goals is to make the separation of DCSS from LMI unobtrusive. The
school you love will continue to become better and stronger.

Thank you for your generous support of the school in 2009-10. Your giving surpassed our budgeted Annual Fund need of
$900,000. This is the first time in several years that we reached the goal. In addition, I am encouraged with the reports that
2010-11 enrollment is ahead of schedule. Also, the new auditorium steps at Xenia Christian will be completed before the
start of school. Although some debris and foundation is scheduled to be removed, demolition was completed on two of the
dorms at Dayton Christian last month. Work has proceeded on the athletic fields – one field has been leveled and seeded.

I desire that DCSS continue to be a leading influence in Christian education regionally and nationally. Our school is built
on a solid, Biblically based, Christ-centered, quality education. I am committed to maintaining what has made DCSS
successful, while also working to promote high levels of excellence in all facets of the school system. My aspiration has
always been to put Christ first; to educate the students with academic excellence as well as prepare them in furthering the
kingdom of God; to instill in them a heart for outreach and service; and equip them with lifelong, godly characteristics.

I realize that you may have questions or thoughts to share. After the school year begins, I will arrange times at each
campus where we can gather, get to know one another and discuss the future of the schools.

I look forward to working with you and a great school year to come. Hebrews 12:2 states, “ Let us fix our eyes on Jesus,
the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him, endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at
the right hand of the throne of God.” Together, may we embrace the call to maintain our focus on Jesus.

Gratefully in Him,

Robert M. Elliott
President & CEO
Dayton Christian School System

that at least one parent from each family attend. These are campus-specific, so you should plan to attend the
School-Parent Partnership Meeting at your own campus. These meetings are vital to ensure our partnership is
successful, as we educate your children to become like Christ, and prepare them to fulfill God’s purpose for their
lives.

12. FINANCIAL UPDATE: Thank you for helping us reach our Annual Fund goal for the 2009-2010 school year.
While we have made great strides to improve our overall financial picture, we rely on an annual base of
unrestricted funds to “bridge the gap” that exists between funds that are generated each year and the actual
budget. This base, called the Annual Fund, supports a wide variety of programs, special projects, and new
initiatives. It is the foundation of our annual support, giving the school system the flexibility to address
unexpected opportunities or respond immediately to areas of greatest need. Gifts made to the Annual Fund
endorse DCSS’s commitment to providing students with a Christ-centered, biblically based, affordable education.
The Annual Fund provides necessary resources to enhance excellence in the classroom as well as in extra-
curricular activities, promoting DCSS’s mission of “Educating for Eternity.” Please prayerfully consider how you
can support DCSS. This year we have an Annual Fund need of $575,000. If you have questions or would like to
learn more about the needs at DCSS, please call (937) 352-1515.

sits on our web site and gives all of our dates, including athletic games, to you 24/7. Events can be viewed by the
entire school system, or just one campus, or even just one sport at one campus. Users can make personalized
calendars just for them that includes or excludes the events from whichever campus(es) they would like. To
access this calendar, visit our web page at www.daytonchristian.com, and select the calendar page. This page also
has a quick tutorial to help you navigate the calendar.

25. ASBESTOS INSPECTION & MANAGEMENT PLANS: Our DCSS campuses have been inspected and
management plans were accomplished in accordance with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA)
asbestos-containing materials in school rules as amended in 40 CFR Part; 763, on October 17, 1987 and the Ohio
Department of Health, Asbestos Abatement rule, chapter 3701-34, Ohio Administrative Code, amended March 3,
1988. The inspection results and the management plan are available for your review at the administrative offices
of each school campus. The school has adopted a surveillance and maintenance plan that will keep all asbestos-
containing materials within our buildings to a safe condition so that the environment for your children and our
employees meets the health standards as set forth in the above regulation. If you have any questions, please call
Dick Stroh at 352-1555.

26. ENROLLMENT UPDATE: As we pass the halfway mark in summer break we thought it would be good to
give you an update on enrollment. We praise the Lord that enrollment is on target for the budget year. Our budget
goal is 1,465 students. Please take a few moments to pray that God would bring in the students necessary to reach
and exceed our goal. In the current economic climate we are sure that many families are struggling with the
decision to invest in Christian education. Pray for those families, that God would supply their need and give them
the guidance to make the right decision.

27. TEST SCORES: The results of the Ohio Graduation Test (OGT) have arrived. Students must pass this set of
five subtests sometime during their high school career in order to receive a high school diploma. The results for
the class of 2012 reflect the following passing rates: writing 93%, reading 92%, mathematics 84%, social studies
86%, science 83%. Since passing the OGT is a graduation requirement, it is significant to note that no student in
the class of 2010 failed to graduate because of not passing the OGT. The majority of our students scored either in
the Accelerated or Advanced category of the results.

6
Our students performed very well on the Advanced Placement Exams given in the spring of 2010. A student can
earn a score of 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 on the AP exam with 5 being the highest score. Most universities and colleges will
grant college credit for a score of 3 or better. Within the Dayton Christian School System, 21 students took AP
Calculus, 64 were enrolled in AP English, and 12 studied AP Government. 71% of the Calculus students, 73% of
the English students, and 92% of the Government students received a score of 3 or better on the exams. We thank
God for His faithfulness and we are excited about the good things He is doing at Dayton Christian School System.
