Descripcin del negocio
Infraestructura Energtica Nova S.A.B. de C.V. (IEnova), unidad local de la
estadounidense Sempra Energy, se dedica al desarrollo, construccin y
operacin de infraestructura energtica en Mxico. Es la primera empresa
del sector energtico que cotiza en la Bolsa Mexicana de Valores (BMV), y
una de las primeras empresas privadas en invertir en el sector energtico
en Mxico tras las reformas estructurales a la constitucin que
permitieron la participacin de particulares en el almacenamiento,
transporte y distribucin de gas natural, as como en la generacin de
energa elctrica. Actualmente su nmina es de 600 activos.
IEnova tiene su sede en Ciudad de Mxico y hasta 2013 se denominaba
como Sempra Mxico.
Activos de la empresa
Los activos de la Compaa estn distribuidos entre dos segmentos de
negocios:
El segmento Gas; que incluye el negocio de almacenamiento, el
negocio de gas natural licuado, o GNL, negocios de distribucin de gas
natural y gas licuado de petrleo, o GAS LP, negocios del transporte y
almacenamiento.
El segmento Electricidad, que incluye la generacin de electricidad
en una planta de ciclo combinado alimentada con gas natural, as como en
un parque elico que se encuentra en proceso de desarrollo. De igual
manera se est desarrollando Energa Sierra Jurez, el primer proyecto
transfronterizo de generacin de energa con fuentes renovables en
Mxico.
La compaa posee y opera aproximadamente 1453 millas de gaseoductos
con una capacidad de transporte de 11,142 millones de pies cbicos de gas
natural por da, as como con 6 estaciones compresoras de gas natural con
una potencia conjunta de aproximadamente 155,000 caballos de fuerza
(Figura 2).
En 2010 IEnova adquiri diversos activos, incluyendo una participacin del
50% en Gasoductos de Chihuahua (Figura 3); la mayora del flujo de
efectivo puede ser considerado muy estable, debido a que los contratos
que celebra son pactados a largo plazo (~20 aos) mayoritariamente en
dlares y sus clientes cuentan con gran capacidad crediticia; adems
cuentan con coberturas que los protegen contra las fluctuaciones en los
precios del gas y muchas de estas cubren tambin cambios en la inflacin.
Estrategia de negocios
IEnova compite principalmente con empresas del sector en las subastas
organizadas por el gobierno mexicano para licitar la construccin de
gaseoductos, en las cuales ha participado con pujas competitivas ganando
la mayora de las subastas en las que se ha presentado.
Gracias a los contratos otorgados por la Comisin Federal de Electricidad
(CFE) a IEnova y a las reformas estructurales del gobierno mexicano IEnova
se encuentra bien posicionada en el mercado con amplias expectativas de
crecimiento.

Business description
Infraestructura Enrgetica Nova S.A.B. de C.V. (IEnova), the local unit of US
company Sempra Energy, is engaged in the development, construction and
operation of energy infrastructure in Mexico.
It is the first company in the energy sector listed in the Mexican Stock
Exchange, and one of the first private companies that investing in the
energy sector in Mexico after the structural amendments to the
Constitution that allowed the participation of privates in the storage,
transportation and distribution of natural gas, as well as in the generation
of electric power. Their payroll is currently 600 asset.

Company assets

Company assets are distributed between two business segments:

Gas segment; includes storage business, liquefied natural gas
business, distribution of natural gas and liquid petroleum gas,
transportation business and storage.

Electricity segment, includes the generation of electricity in a

combined cycle plant fueled by natural gas, as well as a wind farm
that is in process of development. Similarly they are developing
energy Sierra Juarez, the first cross-border project of generation of
energy with renewable sources in Mexico.

terminals The company owns and operates approximately 1,453 miles of pipelines
with a transport capacity of approximately 11,142 million gas cubic feet by
day, also owns 6 natural gas compressor stations with a total higher power
of approximately 155,000 horsepower (Figure 2).

In 2010 IEnova invested in a variety of assets, including a 50% of

participation in pipelines in Chihuahua (Figure 3). The most of the cash
flow can be considered very stable, since this company hold contracts with
long duration (~20 years) and most of these are agreed in dollars, besides
its clients are creditworthy; also the company has indexation structures
devised to isolate operating results from gas price changes; most of them
also allow for inflation updates.

Business strategy
IEnova competes mainly with companies of the energetic sector in the
auctions organized by the Mexican government in order to define who will

needs. IEnova has taken part in most of this auctions with competitive bids
winning many of the contracts.

Thanks to the contracts given by the Comisin Federal de Electricidad

(CFE) to IEnova and to the structural amendments of the Mexican
government, the company is well positioned in the market with wide
expectations of growth.
