FINAL PRESENTATION

Sun Tzu
on the
Art of war
Im going to share with you a book that convey Sun Tzu philosophy that I think are very reliable
knowledge that had change the outcome not only to war but also business, politic and sport. Written by
Sun Tzu at the age of 500 BC, the author is a philosopher, warrior and a commander of Chinese state of
Whu. He pulled off one of the greatest winning in military history by defeating his adversaries which is
ten times larger than his force. So in this presentation, out of 13 chapters Im going to point out only 3
main ideas from this book as a key to win yours war. This is the first line that Sun Tzu put into the book,
War is a matter of vital important to state. Its a matter of life and death, survival and ruin. Therefore its
important to study this thoroughly.

The first main idea Id like to share with you is, to know your enemy and know yourself and in 100 battles
youll never be in peril. Its crucial to know your enemy more than yourself, to know what are you
capable of, your enemy weakness and strength so you could make equation and comparison. Then the
next step which Sun Tzu says is to attack what is weak, avoid what is strong. its tradition for the previous
generation to fight head to head to show their braveness and courage, but for Sun Tzu, he doesnt care
about glory what he care most is to win quickly. Example 1:, Example 2

Second main idea is, the important of making plan and preparation beforehand. Sun Tzu prefers to
calculate and estimate how the battle will turn out so that we prepare to overcome all possibilities of
problem. By thinking, assessing, comparing those factors that you have, you can calculate the chance of
victory. As Sun Tzu says, The winning army realized the condition for victory first then fight, the losing
army fight first then seek for victory. To relate the first and second idea, Id like to conclude that we need
to have a deep fundamental understanding on our enemy so we can anticipate their offensive pattern.

Last but not least, the third ideas is to win without fighting. Sun Tzu says, to win 100 battles is not the
height of skill, to subdue your enemy without fighting is. For Sun Tzu the skillful leader is the one who
subdue enemys troop without fighting and this is the most ultimate way to win your battle. Sometimes,
casualty is essential in the war, Sun Tzu idea is to minimize our resource as we fight the enemy. So its a
need to think of the most efficient way to win a battle. To illustrate this point, just think about the cord in
a rope, individually they may be strong but when you put them together they are unbreakable. Thats
why Sun Tzu praised his general who outwit the enemy instead of outfight them. Example 3:

As conclusion, let me rephrase the first line that written in the book art of war, war is a matter of vital
important to the state, it is a matter of life and death, survival and ruin. Example 4:. I think if the
previous war was fought according to Sun Tzu principles, there will be no needless death as humankind
had suffered. Therefore think twice about your decision is it worth the total cost that we sacrifice in
order to achieve our goal. And I think the most important thing in order to win the war is, to cultivate a
deep fundamental understanding on our adversary.
