Like the Engine oil gear oil is one of the Important thing need to be changed in constant interval the manual says 5000Km but its bett
change it with every engine oil change. which would help your machine's transmission work smoother and longer(gear oil is pretty che
when comparing to other consumables in scooters)

Review Of Castrol GL-40 oil:
To Be frank i am not impressed. Comparing to older oil which was in the transmission box its makes the full system more silent but it lack pick up after 65KmpH. Its pretty smother upto 50Kmph( i
RPM so am referring with KmpH as reference).

Step 1: Warm up the engine and Put scooter in center stand.

The Bolt in Red circle is the "DRAIN BOLT" and green one is "REFILL BOLT".

Step 2: Loosen the Refill bolt with 12mm Socket' ring spanner.

Note: Keep the Pan below it.

Step 3: then remove the Drain Bolt.

3>> let the oil drain out.

Step 4: Rotate the tire slowly. which will help us to remove the oil completely.

Step 5: Tighten the Drain Bolt.

Note: dont over tight it.

Step 5: Pump the gear Oil into transmission unit using the oil gun.

5>>insert the nozzle fully into it.

Step 6: After pumping the oil in. Let the excess oil flow out.

Note: Dont Over fill the transmission. If so the gasket will get leak.

Step 7: Put the Refill Bolt back. look for any leaks. If there is no leak your ready to role. Enjoy!

Advice is a form of nostalgia.

Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Second thing always while tightening the bolts use open end spanner than ratchet wrench. Its because if you are using ratchet wrench, you cannot know how

Ya Bro thanks for your Info. I had contacted the Hero directly for knowing the real oil grade to be used in the transmission unit. They told me that 10W30 is
recommended. Thanks you again for pointing out my mistake.

hero recommends 10w30 engine oil for the gear box/transmission ??!! I always thought all the 'auto' scoots used a gear oil like the ep90 gear oil. This is
recommended by at least honda and ive been using it since day 1 with no issues whatsoever!
these activa's dio's pleasures swish etc .. all are basically the same and the 'gear box' oil i thought was always a 90 gear oil.

The real glory is being knocked to your knees and then coming back. That's real glory. That's the essence of it.

so i think using a 10w40 oil may not do any harm on these small scoots. but ive always used the sae 90 gear oil in my dio and honda recommends this on al
scoots. and i don't think the 90 gear oil would make the scooter sluggish (because i never felt any loss of performance). well, at least don't expect great thro
response after 65kmph on these scoots

Sid'Jee , correctly said - SAE engine oil grade and gear oil grading system is different . But 90wt gear oil is approximately equal in viscosity to a 40wt (like a
SAE40) engine oil . Not the 10wxx or 20wxx multigrades .
