Princeton Review 500+ Practice Questions for the New SAT

First and foremost, signup at Unacademy. There are a LOT of topics related to CAT
that are covered there. Now, following are the books I recommend for SAT.
Get a copy of this wonderful book. I suggest all SAT aspirants to grab a copy of this
book rst and foremost.

The ocial practice tests (8 in number) in this book are extremely valuable.
(Although I will reveal that the practice sets are also available on Khan Academy). But
then I still recommend this book. The prime reason is that students should take
practice tests using pencil and paper because that is how the SAT is administered.
Please note that this book does not contain answer keys and scoring curves. You will
have to take a photo of your bubble sheet and use an app to calculate your score, or
view the answer keys and scoring curves on the College Board web-site to calculate
your score by hand.

A diagnostic test and four full-length practice tests with all questions
answered and explained
Test-taking tactics for the exam as a whole, and special strategies for each
part of the test
This is another good choice for SAT preparation. You can opt for this book from
Kaplan, or the book from Barron mentioned above, but I would not really advise
buying them both.
Word of warning--the online tests included "with" this book are ONLY available online
and cannot be retrieved in full (just question by question) or downloaded. When
practicing to take a test, it is very important to take it in the same format and the SAT
is still a paper test, so making the majority of these practice tests only available online
is counter-intuitive to the process. This is the exact reason I recommended the rst
book as a must-buy for all serious SAT aspirants.

There is one book that stands above the rest on all counts: The College Boards Ocial
SAT Study Guide.
It contains ocial test questions from the makers of the test, and comes with 4
practice tests. When I took the actual test back in May, I was pleasantly surprised to
nd that the real test was very similar to what I found in the Study Guide. Start with
this book, and once you make your way through these problems, then you can explore
other reseources.
Best of luck.

Collegeboard's own book is usually the best out there. If the past is any guide, it will
remain in that position compared to other private-publishers' books. The primary
reasons CB books are "good" are that:
2. CB material is of high quality - i.e. the questions and problems are stated
precisely, without any errors or ambiguities. They must spend a whole
bunch of money, time and research to make sure their questions are properly
worded.
Generally, Barron's books are harder than CB's. So far, Barron's rst New SAT book
seems to be getting some ak for repeating math questions from the old SAT. Though
you should read the author's explanation as well on Amazon.
After that, there are whole bunch of books whose "goodness" (diculty level, or
ability to mimic/represent actual tests closely) will have to be proven over time.
By the way, when one asks for "good" books - there is an implied assumption that one
does not have time to practice all the books. While I do not disagree with this
approach, I would recommend the following approach for a serious student of SAT:
2. Then do other books. Reserve remainder of CB for the end. I generally ask
my students to use Barron's - because they are dicult, they act like a boot
camp to train you with hard problems.
3. Do 2-3 other books as well. I know people have denite opinions about
specic books - which ones are good, which ones are a waste of time etc. But,
in my opinion, one can benet from all books. Essentially, these dierent
books can expose you to a whole variety of problems, passages and essays.

That improves your versatility and makes you thick-skinned - i.e. you will not
be shocked or surprised by any new stu they throw at you in the actual test.
4. For last few weeks, go back to the College Board tests you had skipped. If you
have worked hard in the interim, you will see your CB score has improved.
Plus, going back to CB book at the end will acclimatize you with their specic
diculty level and so you will feel at home when you take the actual test.
All this works, of course, if you are able to carve out serious daily/weekly time for
SAT. You have to treat SAT prep seriously and devote some daily work to it over
months. How long it takes you to get to your goal depends on where you are starting
from, how intensely you work and how carefully you record and eliminate your
errors. Once you begin practicing, don't stop until the day before the test. Otherwise ,
your scores might fall o and you will have to work even harder to get the scores back
up.
Oh and one nal point: in my experience, it is ALWAYS better to rst clean up your
fundamentals before jumping into practice. If you have forgotten Algebra, Geometry,
grammar, reading, rhetorical analysis etc - then, in the long term, it would be much
more ecient for you to brush up on all that before you begin practice.
Good luck!

The Ocial SAT Study Guide, 2018 Edition is an absolute must have. It is the only
book created by the publishers of the SAT and contains the only ocial practice tests.
You can get other guides from Barrons, Princeton Review or Kaplan. (Barrons is my
favorite.) These books all have made-up SATs that are great for practice, but inferior
to the real College Board Tests. If you are doing pretty well (above 1400) you may want
to get SAT Elite 1600: For the Redesigned 2016 Exam or Barron's SAT 1600: Revised
for the NEW SAT , to provide extra information to take your scores even higher.
Khan Academy also has excellent free resources that are online.

To read more about SAT prep book you can read on Gregurublog .
The College Boards book which contains 4 practice tests. You can also get the exact
same tests online here, plus two extra: SAT Practice Tests
If you want to buy a book for additional practice, Barrons, McGraw Hill, Kaplan and
Princeton Review generally publish decent quality resources. My favourite of those is
usually Barrons.

Go through these links. They have a well curated list. I am appearing for my SAT this
january and found these books personally insightful and extremely helpful. You dont
need to purchase them all; only those that suit your study type well. All of them can
be found on Online Shopping: Shop Online for Mobiles, Books, Watches, Shoes and
More but you need to place the order keeping 13 weeks in hand for the shipping.
Cheers.

I wrote another post addressing a related question (Brandon Na's answer to What are

However, if I had to answer only one book, it would be the OG (ocial guide) or what
it's been called in the past, the blue book.

It has a brief primer all the subjects covered and will always have the most
comprehensive set of practice tests on the market that represent real questions -
which is why all the other books pale in comparison.
