RESUMEN
The PVC profiled pipe is a structural pipe with smooth inner surface and
profiled outer wall, formed by helical winding of a structured profile strip,
made of non-plasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVCU) resins by means of an
extrusion process. The shape of the outer wall of the pipe (T-profile) gives it
the ring stiffness required to withstand the static and dynamic loads to which
it will be subjected, and this in turn allows it to be lighter than PVC pipes
with Solid wall. A profiled PVC pipe derives its resistance to the loads of its
nature to allow deformations. When deflected before the load, this allows
passive ground pushes to develop on both sides of the pipe towards the
control line. At the same time the deformation of the tube frees it from
supporting the greater portion of the vertical load, which is supported by the
floor of the sides, through the so-called arch effect. The effective resistance
of the flexible tube - floor system is remarkably high. In experimental tests
done at Utah University (UNI-BELL PV), a rigid tube with a resistance of
49.2 kg / cm (3300 l / ft) to the "three-way test" placed on a class C bed ,
Fails to fracture the wall with a soil load of 5000 lb / ft (74.5 kg / cm); That
is, the safety factor is approximately 1.5; However, under identical soil and
load conditions, a flexible PVC pipe deflects only 5% of its internal diameter.
This value is well below the deflection value that could cause the pipe wall
failure, something like a safety factor of 6 (UNI-BELL PVC).
