Overview of OFM Settings

The OFM settings are preferences you choose for your use of OFM. You can set nine types of settings on the
Options window. Three are global settings, and six are workspace settings.

Global Settings
You can select global settings without opening an OFM workspace.

n Preferences: For selecting which variables you want to show in lists, resetting changes you made to
the OFM registry, and restoring or suppressing warnings and dialog boxes

n SQL: For defining SQL settings and changing the default limit of records for each entity for standard
intraday reports

n Language: For selecting the OFM display language

Workspace Settings
You must open an OFM workspace before selecting workspace settings.

n Units: For selecting the measurement system you want to use

n Date Display: For shifting the default date and time, for multi-frequency calculations

n Multiply By Factor: For adjusting production and injection data by either a static or dynamic (with
time) factor

n Maps: For changing settings applied to maps, such as zoom and group settings

n Group: For setting grouping parameters

n Normalize Time Shifting Tables: For shifting production, test, or daily production data forward or
backward in time, to compare well or group performance

Setting Input Variable Preferences

The preferences settings change the variables that display in lists, restore or suppress dialog boxes, and
reset the OFM registry.

1. On the Workspace tab, click Options.

The Options window opens.

2. View the Preferences tab.

3. To change the variables that display in all lists, select from the choices in the Input Variable Lists
group.

Note: If you set this to Display all variable names in lists and you want to exclude individual
variables, you can do so on the Edit Schema Tables window or on the Variable Editor.

4. To restore or suppress the warning and confirmation dialog boxes that OFM displays, click Restore
All or Suppress All.

5. To reset the OFM registry settings, click Reset and then click Yes on the confirmation dialog box.

Warning: OFM saves the equipment and text boxes added to wellbore diagrams in the OFM registry. If you
reset the OFM registry settings, OFM removes the equipment and text boxes.

6. Click OK to save your changes and close the window.

Defining SQL Settings

Follow these steps to:

n Define SQL settings: This is useful when you are connecting to external databases.

Note: Leave all settings at the default values, unless you get errors when connecting to external
databases.

n Change the default limit of records for each entity for standard intraday reports. By default, the limit
is 7200 records for each entity (which is about two hours of second-level data), but you can have an
unlimited number of completions in your project and an unlimited number of data points.

Note: If you have an extremely large number of completions, use a project filter to improve performance.

1. On the Workspace tab, click Options.

The Options window opens.

2. On the SQL tab:

n To consider null all zero values, select Treat zero values as null for sample count.

n To change the SQL statements that display in the output window (for example, to troubleshoot
SQL statements and see the statements used when viewing data in OFM), select one of the
choices in the Show SQL in Output Window section.

3. Click OK.

Changing the Units of Measurement

The OFM units settings are to select the measurement system you want to use. If you make a change to
this setting, OFM does not alter any conversions to the data in your database.

1. On the Workspace tab, click Options.

The Options window opens.

2. View the Units tab.

3. To use the metric system, select Use Metric Units and then select the correct PVT Pressure
Unit.

4. In the Unit Multiplier Style section, select the imperial (Field), Metric, or Scientific system.

5. Click OK to save your changes and close the window.

Configuring the Date for Historical Data

When you set up the forecast flow model for forecasting, OFM uses this selection to place the historical data
at the beginning, middle, or end of the month if you choose an instantaneous rate.

1. On the Workspace tab, click Options.

The Options window opens.

2. On the Date Display tab, select the time period. The selection does not affect monthly data.

3. Click OK to save your changes and close the window.

Changing Production and Injection Data

with a Static or Dynamic Factor
Follow these steps to adjust production and injection data by either a static or dynamic (with time) factor.
The only variables affected by the selections are the ones that have Multiply By Factor selected (on the
Edit Schema Tables window or on the Variable Editor) and the variables derived from them.

1. On the Workspace tab, click Options.

The Options window opens.

2. On the Multiply By Factor tab, select Enable factor multiplication.

3. Select Static or Dynamic and then select a variable from the list.

4. Click OK.

Normalizing (Time Shifting) Tables

To compare well or group performance, you can shift production, test, or daily production data forward or
backward in time. Follow these steps to shift monthly or daily data in time-based criteria that you define.
Use a system function to apply simple normalization.

1. On the Workspace tab, click Options.

The Options window opens.

2. On the Normalize Tables tab, select Enable Normalize Tables.

3. On the Starting Condition field, select a starting condition variable.

OFM will create a new set of dates in the table, based on the starting condition variable you choose.

Note: The variable must be one that returns a date. The date the variable returns may not be the same
date for all wells.

4. (Optional) On the Ending Condition field, select an ending condition variable.

5. Select a Date Option:

n Default: Sets the date conditions to the system defaults.

n Earliest: Shifts all data to the earliest occurrence of the selected Starting Condition.

n Latest: Shifts the data to the latest date on which the Starting Condition is met.

6. Select a Well Option.

7. Click Normalize.

8. Click OK.

9. To toggle normalization on and off, on the Status bar (in the lower right corner of the OFM window),
click Normalize ( ).
