Signature Assignment Reflection

The theory of evolution by natural selection is the process by which organisms change
over time as a result of changes in heritable physical or behavioral traits, which could be many
things in a scenario adapting to climate change and learning how to live with many surroundings
wherever you may be which could be anywhere as humans descended from Africa and spread
out throughout the world and how we have evolved from our past ancestors from the first
humans and what we are known as today which is Homo Sapiens.

Fossils- we noticed that overtime that we have as humans have evolved not just
knowledge wise but as a figure with being much taller and how we look less like our ancestors
with ape type characteristics such as being hairy throughout the whole body and ape like faces
and how the brain cranium has increased and how by the evolution of change that we find in
fossils of remains that we can relate to one another.

How the shape of skull has varied with more human like style big head for cranial capacity and
smaller brow ridge and smaller teeth, occipital bun these are all characteristics for Homo sapiens
and all other early homo had big teeth, sloping forehead, flat faced, sagittal crest, flaring
cheekbones, broad face, and large nostrils

Evaluate the evidence- we can say that the cranial capacity has increased millions of years since
the beginning of Australopiths dating back to 6 million years ago with a 360cm3, then with the
new species evolving after that was Australopithecus (Gracile) 4 million years ago with a
440cm3, Paranthropus (Extinct) 2 million years ago with a 520cm3, Early Homo (Habilis) 2
million years ago with a 680cm3, Homo Erectus/Ergaster 1 million years ago with a 900cm3,
Pre-Modern which are Homo Heidelbergensis 700,000 to 200,000 years ago with a 1250cm3 and

Homo sapiens Neanderthalensis 200,000 to 28,000 years ago with a 1500cm3, and last of them
all which is Modern Humans that are Homo sapiens sapiens 200,000 to present with 1350cm3.

Do I find this compelling yes to see how Modern humans have evolved with similar
characteristics from our Pre-modern humans but with knowledge being able to speak and
communicate with one another and how we used technology to make the world more advanced
than any other generation and with the knowing how to defend ourselves and protect our families
from danger such as shelter from hot sun or the rain fall, the ability to wear clothing and be
prepared for the seasons that our present during that time.

The ability to choose how we live such as you can still live on your own in the wild or you can
be modern and live in the city like most people but those who choose to many consider not
possible find a way to survive but with resources that they have acquired from the city but they
still have to get their own food source and fuel source like a fire to keep warm during those cold
nights or for light at night.

Reflect on how you thought about human evolution before you took this course and how
you think about it now that the course is over.

Had an idea already of what this class was going to be about since Ive taken anthropology1010
couple semesters ago and how we study humans throughout the world and what we do different
from each other on how we live, where we live, what we eat, how we get around and how we
survive in the environment that we choose to put ourselves in. The things that play an impact on
what we eat even on what we wear would be cultural behavior and what you want to be or what
society wants you to be, its good that depending on where you live you get that choice.

Taking anthropology1020 had some similarities but this course talked more about how we
became to be the Homo sapiens that we are today and how Pre-modern homo evolved
throughout time with the increase in cranial capacity even with the things that we eat and how

we got our food and the things we did to change by becoming more advance and making tools to
help us with new materials and new types like blades, hand tools such as an axe, hammer, spears.

Reflect on how knowledge from this course connects to something outside this course

The knowledge that I can see that Ive acquired from this course is that I have a better
understanding how we came to be to the modern humans which are Homo sapiens sapiens and
how our past Pre-modern homo sapiens and Neanderthals had similarities and how we became
the modern humans that we are here today without them becoming the first to discover we need
shelter and weapons to have a place to live and have hunting essentials.

Reflect on lingering questions you have about human evolution.

Human evolution has changed from what we how we started off as the first humans and the
modern humans and the things that we do different from our past Homo sapiens and the things
that we have and how we are the first to cherish all the things that we have today with the help of
technology and how things could have been so different if they had the hold of these before us
and in that case we would we have if we are advanced today more than we were decades ago.
