Since 1975 our unique combination of local knowledge and extensive international experience has made us the

Railway construction
Leighton has the capability to supply all track systems for high speed,
main line, heavy haul, urban mass transit, commuter and light rail transit.
In addition to delivering new systems, we also have the skills and expertise
to refurbish existing lines.
We are experienced in the design and construction of ballasted and
concrete track structures, including advanced techniques for noise and
vibration attenuation.
Leighton has made a major investment in the purchase of a new track
layer to support our expansion in the industry.
The Leighton Group was awarded the prestigious Australian Construction
Achievement Award for its role in constructing the 1,500 kilometres long
railway from Alice Springs to Darwin in Australia. This accolade adds to
ongoing achievements by our team in rail construction.
Railway upgrades
Leighton has a long history in the refurbishment of rail networks for clients
around the world.
The major refurbishment of railway lines has helped our clients breathe
new life into ageing infrastructure. We have worked with rail operators to
plan important upgrades that result in improvements to speed, comfort
and other passenger services.
Capabilities
Our refurbishment works also deliver long-term safety benefits for clients
by replacing old sleepers, rails, turn-outs, ballast, signalling and other rail
infrastructure with modern equipment.
Electrification and power supply
Leighton also offers a total power and electrification capability for all
types of new railway projects as well as the upgrading and conversion
of existing systems. Additionally, we have the competency in power and
electrification projects ranging from overhead lines, AC and DC power
supply to conductor rail systems.
Signalling
Leighton has the proven capability to deliver signalling systems for all
types of railway. Working with our partners in the rail signalling industry
supply chain gives us flexibility and enables us to tailor solutions to
clients needs.
Railway, train facilities and industrial buildings
Over the years, Leighton has constructed numerous train depots that
include office blocks and amenities buildings. Other support items of plant
and machinery that have been designed and installed by Leighton include
wash plants, wheel lathes, overhead cranes and lifting jacks.
