The Lord Is With Us The winds were blowing, the waves were crash-
ing, the boat was being tossed about and the disciples were afraid. In to-
days Gospel Jesus comes to the aid of his followers and tells them not to
be afraid. Even more, he reminds them that if they trust in him they cannot
fail. Are you nervous or afraid about the big changes that will soon take
place in the Diocese of Pittsburgh? Join Bishop David Zubik in prayer
and worship at one of the On Mission for The Church Alive! Summer Sessions and continue to
prepare your heart and grow in trust that God is with us and will not let us fail. The changes
may challenge us, but we trust in the work of the Holy Spirit to provide the gifts and resources
for the Church to grow and thrive. The Summer Sessions will be held from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30
p.m. on the following days: Thursday, August 24 at Saint Mary of the Assumption, Glenshaw;
Monday, August 28 at Saint Thomas More, Bethel Park; Tuesday, August 29 at Saint Marga-
ret Mary, Moon Township; Wednesday, August 30 at Saint Kilian, Adams/Cranberry Town-
ships. Visit onmissionchurchalive.org to learn more it and to stay informed.

Please support Catholic Charities' Washington County Outreach during the Washington

and Parenting support, Counseling, and more. Thank you for your generosity!

DIOCESAN CHOIR AUDITIONS

Auditions for the 2017-2018 Diocesan Choir season will soon be held. The
Choir under the direction of Fr. Jim Chepponis, Music Director for the Diocese
of Pittsburgh, sings for the major Diocesan events at St. Pauls Cathedral
throughout the year. Currently there openings in the soprano, alto, tenor and bass
sections. In addition to being good singers, potential members must be capable
sight-readers due to a limited rehearsal schedule, and at least 18 years of age. Rehearsals are
held at St. John Capistran Church in Upper St. Clair. Audition times may be scheduled by
calling Doris Anne in the Diocesan Music Office (412-456-3042) before August 21.

RCIA FOR MID-MON VALLEY

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a communal process of spiritual and edu-
cational formation for adults who seek to become full members of the Roman Catholic
Church. Once again this year, the parishes of the mid-Mon Valley will be offering an RCIA
program for Mary, Mother of the Church in Charleroi, Our Lady of the Valley in Donora and
St. Damien of Molokai in Monongahela. All those interested in pursuing membership in the
Church, in completing their sacraments of initiation, or as a refresher for those already in
the Catholic faith are encouraged to consider participation. The program will begin on Mon-
day, October 2nd of this year. Interested persons from St. Damien should contact Fr. Bill at
the parish office for specific information.

Calendar Planning
Its that time again! We are asking representatives from all parish, school and inter
parish organizations (ARCM, LOC, CMF, HOLY NAME, CHOIR, MADONNA,
K OF C, COLUMBIETTES, DINNER COMMITTEES etc.) to compile their
schedules for anything involving the usage of any of the St. Damien facilities for the coming
period beginning September 2017 through August 2018. We will be coordinating our calen-
dar so that there is no overlap of building usage. Please drop off, mail, call, or email your in-
formation to Peggy (stdamienromeop@verizon.net) at the Parish Office by August 21st.
Thank you for your cooperation.
