Running head: SUMMER REFLECTION 1

Pham

Refection for Summer Portfolio

1. What was your greatest challenge during this summer semester in the radiology program?
a. My greatest challenge in the Summer of 2017 is comprehending the images, knowing
what each label is pointing to, picturing the sections of the human body, as well as
understanding the administrative aspect. The beginning of summer, I had a difficult time
grasping the dimension of the anatomical human body; therefore, parts of the interior of
the body, such as the sinuses and cavities, were a challenge for me to picture the location
in to human body. For the administrative side, this course was difficult for me to keep up
with the reads as well as the discussion boards.

2. How did you overcome this challenge?

a. The way I overcame the challenge for the sectional anatomy is to review the image with
the labels and make different little tricks in order to remember the labeling of each part of
the section. Such as acronyms, word play, as well as what the what the images looks like
and connect the part to something else. Then the administration and supervision course, I
found a resolution to the dilemma by reading the chapters for the discussion boards first;
then after those chapters, I would read the other chapters that are required for the module.

3. During this summer, you were required to enroll in either Informatics (RADS 4533) or
Administration and Supervision of Diagnostic Imaging (RADS 4513). After listing the course
you chose, please discuss one important concept you learned in that course that will help you
as a future radiologic technologist.
a. The course I have took besides sectional anatomy is the Administration and Supervision
of Diagnostic Imaging (RADS 4513). In this course, I have learned how cope with
different types of employees as well as how to discipline the workers. With these two
concepts, they will help me seek the different kinds of workers in the workplace
environment. Such as the negativist workers, try to avoid arguments with them even
though the negative workers are right since they are using negative points to show how
they are right. Also as a supervisor, give the employees, especially the deadwood
employee a positive or nonpunitive disciplinary method. Meaning first as supervisors, I
would remind the employee what the goal is as well as the organizations mission, vision,
and expectations are from a worker. After so many informal meets, I would set forth a
formal meeting with witnesses as well as documentation for the meeting as well as
documents which shows how the worker did not try to change. Finally, after all the
informal and formal meetings and the employees has not made any progress, then as a
supervisor, the employee may be terminated or be suspended for about three days.
Therefore, with learning the different types of employees and disciplinary acts, I am able
to seek the different types of workers as well as how to handle the disciplinary action
differently to each worker.

4. What is your greatest concern about the fall semester?

a. There are many things I am concerned about this fall. First off, being comfortable talking
in front of the whole class. I tend to talk super-fast or go blank right off the bat when I
start to talk in front of a large group of people. Second, I am afraid of falling behind on
my course work due to many factors such as over loads on assignments, back to back

exams, or other situations that might prevent me from staying on task. My last concern is
being able to talk to my peers or professors without hesitation.
