DBES School/Parent Volunteer Agreement

At Dobys Bridge Elementary School we appreciate and value the time our volunteers spend helping
our teachers and students in our school. I am confident that we have a shared goal of creating a
vibrant and engaging school environment for our Dragons! You are not only welcomed, but you are
also invited to join us in this journey.

Join me in partnering to maximize and preserve instructional time by minimizing incidental

disruptions, ensuring the safety of students by monitoring guests, and creating the safest and most
positive learning environment possible. With this in mind, please review the following agreements
and return this form to the office.

As volunteers, we ask that you:

Check in at the office each time you arrive to volunteer and obtain a lanyard and leave your
car keys.
Check in at the office each time you volunteer, even if you are volunteering after a school
event that you attended.
Remain in the area of the building for which you received the color coded lanyard. Please
return to the office to exchange your lanyard if you are working in more than one area.
While we understand that this may seem inconvenient, it does help us monitor the many
adults who may be in our building. The color coded lanyards are visible on our school
cameras.
Be mindful of the learning environment, and ensure that the teacher is able to continue with
instruction, and that your student, along with others, is able to be engaged in learning. The
role of the volunteer is to support learning!
Avoid stopping staff members in the hallway to have conversations or conferences. These
environments are not private, and we want to ensure the privacy of all students.
Maintain confidentiality and respect for privacy of students and teachers.
Parents should not grade papers; nor should they assess individual students.
Only use the main front office doors to access help or materials.
Find childcare for younger siblings when volunteering. Many of the materials preparation
areas are adult spaces that have safety hazards for young children, and younger siblings are
not appropriate in the classroom environment.
Ensure that your arrival and departure for time-specific activities remains on schedule.
Manage your end of the day volunteer schedule to be in the car rider line when your child is
dismissed. Please read the handbook for specific instructions.
