PREGUNTAS SIMPLIFICADAS

- Where are you from?

I am from Malaga, Spain.

- Where do you live?

I live in Cadiz, I study there.

- How old are you?

I am twenty seven years old.

- What have you studied?

I studied computer science and winemaking. Now I am an enology student.

- Where do you work or have you worked in the past?

I am a student now. I have worked as a plumber and as a winemaker in three different wineries in
Mlaga.

- Why do you want practice in the US?

I want to do practice in the USA because I think is very good to know another culture different from
mine.
I also think it would make me stronger being away from my family and friends and learning new
ways of working in a winery.

- Which are you career goals?

My professional goals is to become a great oenologist.

- What is your greatest strength?

I have a great adaptability and I am a very hard worker.

- What are your weaknesses ?

Sometimes I think too much when I don't need to, and I can be a bit shy but only at the beginning.

- How can cultural exchanges bring positive things to your life?

I think cultura exchange can bring many good things into my life. It is good to meet people from
other countries, news ways of life, new food, music etc.

- What theoretical and practical knowledge have you received from the university and from your
previous practices or jobs?

In my previous jobs I learned to make wine and grow vineyards.


I learned to perform phytosanitary treatments, agricultural techniques, collecting grapes. In the
winery I learned to use the destemmer, the press, the pumps, pumping over, Racking also addition
of sulfur dioxide, acido, levaduras, clarification, filtration, cleaning of tanks, cleaning of barrels etc.

In the laboratory of winery I learned to analyze density, sulfur dioxide, total acidity, acetic acid,
alcohol, sugars, nitrogen.

In the university I learned theoretical and practical fundamentals of gravimetric, volumetric


techniques, spectrophotometry, molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, inorganic chemistry
and organic chemistry.

- What are the processes and techniques that dominate and which are the ones that you would
like to learn the most during your training?

I mastered traditional techniques of sweet wine making without addition of alcohol, white and red
wines.

I would like to learn new techniques of making red wines, outside the traditional techniques.

- What type of work are you looking for, what type of company or facility are you most interested
in? Which programs are most attractive?

I would like to work in a wine cellar of a small or medium size business, but I am open to working in
any type of winery or laboratory.

I find the winery program very interesting.

- What areas in the USA would you like to work in ?

I would love to work in the Napa Valley area but I have no problem working in any US state.

- How long will you be staying here for?

I would like to be there for four months.
