XPIC Installation
XPIC (Cross Polarized Interference Cancellation): it mean dual polarized transmit (send on Vertical and
Horizontal Polarization) on the same frequency and Modulation to increase data rate, but Vertical and
Horizontal polarized not Accurate Polarized so we use cancellation to cancel any small interference occur
Wave guide diameter depend on frequency and equations, where any frequency higher than Cutoff
frequency will reflect inside wave guide and any frequency lower than cutoff frequency has higher wave
length so losses causes
Cutoff Frequency: its frequency that has incident and reflected angle equal zero

Install Outdoor:
*If uses 2+0 XPIC use Side arm at least 0.3 m (dash 0.3& 0.6 m)
*If use 2+2 XPIC use side arm at least 0.6 m (dash 0.3& 0.6 m)
*If use 2+2 or 2+0 XPIC and Dash 1.2m use side arm at least 1.5 m

Assembled OMT
Band
7. Collect RAU (each two RAU at one Power Splitter) as show in fig.
8. Install the last part on Side arm where Dash at Middle and two RAU Up and another
Down Link
Note: at Vodafone Standard RAU 1+1 installed upper Dash antenna will connect with Vertical side at
OMT and RAU 1+1 installed down Dash will connected with Horizontal side at OMT
Note: Wave guide cable diameter depend on frequency where (d1/f) as show in fig.
Band 10 GHz
Band 38 GHz
Indoor installation:
-
At XPIC 2+0 we need two position Between them ( ) (2&3, 4&5,. And so on),
and connect between them with Ethernet cable as show in fig.
First MMU connected with Vertical and second connected with Horizontal
To configure XPIC:
3. Start Normal Configuration and choose XPIC Mode and Mode 1+0
Select XPIC Companion (Second MMU will make XPIC with it)
5. After finish this configuration start alignment , after get target RSL we have final Action
called XPD (Cross Polarized Diversity) test, should be RSL at Vertical different with
Horizontal RSL with 30 dBm at least
6. XPD: transmit Horizontal MMU at one Side and start move OMT (Right & left) until
RSL at horizontal (off) different with Vertical with 30 dBm at least, after this you
finished XPIC
Note: XPD value if power splitter Symmetric must be in range 27 to 30 dBm, if Power Splitter Asymmetric must
be in Range 30 to 34 dBm
Note: XPD value is difference Between V and H at one of them is off, RSL will be as target RSL at polarized
on and RSL on polarized off equal target RSL+ XPD value
For e.g.: target RSL 42 dBm and at XPD test ,make V on and H off at one side ,at check V RSL will be 42 dBm
and H will be 72 dBm and Vice Versa.
Note: XPIC cross cable used to manage XPIC function between two MMU, if it not found at high fading this link
will be down
1. Start alignment with 1+0 link (Vertical), until reach target RSL firstly
2. Start XPD test with 2+0 (use main RAU at V and main at H)
Now turn off Vertical and open Horizontal and check variation:
Now turn off Horizontal and open vertical and check Variation:
XPD test correct, now you can let V& H open and use XPIC function correctly, RSL at V and H
now will be the same as RSL target (with no problem )
Use the same steps but we need 4 position and MMU as show in fig
Connected XPIC cross cable (Ethernet cable) Main MMU (V) with Main MMU (H) and standby
with standby as show in fig
Each group connect main MMU V with main MMU H, and Standby with standby
At 2+2 XPIC Alignment use Switch Mode Manual and Force on RAU1 and MMU 1
XPIC Alarms:
Transmitter On: if this box shows as bold value and cant change status this mean there is
problem at XPIC function
Solution:
XPIC: Selecting the check box enables XPIC while clearing the check box disables XPIC. If an
error causes XPIC to disconnect, the button Restore XPIC after Fault appears. The error cause
must be corrected before the button is clicked.
XPIC LOS
The alarm is raised when the Cross Polarization Interference Canceller (XPIC) baseband cross-
signal between two MMU2 F in XPIC mode is lost, with the XPIC cross-cable correctly
connected. Loss of the XPIC baseband cross-signal due to MMU2 F internal hardware or
software fault. Not due to disconnected XPIC cross-cable.
