THE CONTROL FUNCTIONS OF

DEPED ORDER NO 12 S. 2017

NARRATIVE REPORT
2017 Division Training on Early Language and Numeracy (ELLN) Program for
Kindergarten to Grade 3 Teachers
INTRODUCTION (THE CONTROL + N)

The Philippine Educational System can be likened to a computer system that has many
control functions to facilitate smooth transition of tasks. With the introduction of the K to 12
Curriculum in the Department of Education, many new policies have been introduced, hence, the
function CNTRL + N.
As the new curriculum has its ways in deepening the knowledge, skills and attitudes of the
learners towards the realization of the mission and vision of the department, various reforms have
been introduced and opened to the teachers to retool and retrain them as regards to competency
and pedagogy in the teaching-learning process.
Pursuant to DepEd Order No. 12 s. 2015 on the Guidelines on the Early Language Literacy
and Numeracy Program: Professional Development Component, the City Schools Division of
Batac conducted the 2017 Division Training on Early Language and Numeracy (ELLN) Program
for Kindergarten to Grade 3 Teachers last August 11, 2017 at the Hilario Valdez Memorial
Elementary School.
The said training sought teachers to: (1) enhance their pedagogical knowledge, skills and
attitudes on in early literacy and numeracy; (2) improve their ability to assess learners literacy
and numeracy skills; (3) sustain their commitment in mentoring/sharing of teaching experiences
to improve instruction and outcomes.

acquire (to copy) new strategies and techniques in delivering lessons and use them (to paste) in
their respective classrooms. If proven effective, then they will use it. If proven not, then the
teachers will look into possible revisions on the use of the strategy and will try again.

Conclusion

CNTRL + S (Save)
The salient points in the training workshop were able to grasp by the participants. These
pieces of information they acquired were saved in their memory since these files that are
incorruptible. The objectives of the activity were met. However, the challenge is that, how are
these pieces of information be retrieved and be applied in the improvement of the learners
performance.
ALT + F4 (Close)
As the activity pressed ALT + F4, several Saves have been done. Edits and revisions
were also done in the clearing house segment to as the new document will be of good quality when
opened, free from errors and mistakes.

As teachers being part of the computer system (DepEd), they should play their part for that
system to be fully operationalized and maximized its use in the delivery of quality, effective and
efficient programs to its end consumers which are the learners.
