Dear Prof. J.

Baumann

My name is Samira Mahmoudi. I'm holding master degree in Materials Science and Engineering
(Corrosion & Protection of Materials) from Tarbiat Modares University, IRAN and a B.Sc. in
Materials engineering (Extractive Metallurgy) from Amirkabir University (Polytechnic
University) of Tehran, Iran. My researches have focused on bio-nanocomposite coatings
including Electrophoretic deposition and investigation of corrosion behavior and mechanical
properties of of Hydroxyapatite-Chitosan-Carbon Nanotubes Nanocomposites.

I have three years of work experiences in "Iranian Welding Research and Engineering Center"
(IIW ANB in Iran and Middle East) as Approved training Body (ATB) expert and head of
Approved National Body (ANB) as supervisor of quality control and issuing Iso3834 certificates
for companies and diplomas for students in international welding courses. In addition, I have
cooperated with " Atmosphere Alminum and Cast Iron Casting Company". Also, I have taught
the Nano science courses at National Nano Institute and different courses including Chemistry,
Physics and mathematics at Alavi Institute.

During my searches amng different institutes and universities, I've visited your personal web-
page and I am contacting you because Im interested in your research area due to my background
in nanomaterials and biomaterials.

I would be thankful if you let me know about the current research streams and vacant positions
which fit me under your supervision. For the time being, I have published seven articles in some
journals and conferences. You can find my enclosed CV. I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,
Samira Mahmoudi
dear professor M. Sadegh Safarzadeh,

My name is Leila Sorkhi and currently I am a graduate student of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering
in University of Missouri.

I am contacting you because my research interests are same as yours and I would like to transfer to the
South Dakota School of Mines & Technology.

Do you know if you will be accepting any graduate students? If you are, would you willing to talk to me a
bit more, by email or on the phone, about my future plans. I have explored your departments graduate
school website in detail, and it seems like an excellent fit for me.

I added a link to my resume, I would be happy if you could take a look to see if I am applicable to
transfer.

Best Regards,
Dear Professor Vincent Pizziconi,
My name is Leila Sorkhi and I have a master degree of Material engineering, majoring in
Corrosion and Protection of materials, from Tarbiat Modares University, IRAN.
I am contacting you because Im applying to PhD program with a focus on Nanocoatings, this
fall, and Arizona State University is one of the schools I like applying to. My research interests
are Corrosion & Protection of materials, Electrodeposition of Nanomaterials and Biomaterials
and these are as same as research interest of university.
I hope you dont mind my getting in touch, but I've noticed that you have done research on
Hydroxyapaptite Coatings. Because of our similar interests, studying PhD under your
supervision is one of the ones I am intrigued by Arizona State University.
Do you know if you will be accepting any graduate students for the fall 2014-2015? If you are,
would you willing to talk to me a bit more, by email or on the phone, about my graduate school
