The role of informal/formal institutions to minimalize corruption.

To begin with, corruption is an unethical method used by a person to gain advantage over
others. Corruption is probably the most talked about issue for years due to the fact that our
country is still struggling about this issue up to now. We can still see the news about
corrupt politicians or police officers or other government officials who were proven guilty
and being caught in television, newspaper, and social media. These people are the bad
examples of how society representation should be. They stole governments money for the
sake of their own and covered that up with flowery words in the media. This is very
problematic since people who do corruption are the people that have been given trust by
society to represent their voice and aspirations in government but they misused the trust
for their own advantage. Two words to describe this, evil and cheap. Because they sold their
dignity with money.
Therefore this essay will analyse what informal/formal institutions can do to minimalize
corruption. To overcome this problem or simply to seek for solution, let's start with these
questions:
1. Why did corruption happen at the very first place?
2. Who should be responsible to catch all the corrupt people?
3. What is the best platform to prevent corruption?

To answer the question number one, lets characterise first who are the people involved at
corruption case. Usually when talking about corruption there are politicians, government
officials, briber, and any other profession can also do. These people are basically not living
under the poverty line. It means they did corruption for the sake of their greedy behaviour
which disadvantage many people. That also means that they have problem with morality.
This is where educational institutions can play a role.
Basically in school we are taught to be not only smart individuals but also be responsible
and having a good morality. We are taught in school that life is a process of learning and you
cannot get everything instantly. Thats precisely why we have to go through 12 tiring years
of school and 4 years of university to get a proper job, to finally be able to go to the real
world called life.
Educational institutions such as school and university can be a preventive way to make sure
young generation who are going to be the next person in charge understand really well
about morality and how to be a responsible human being. For additional mechanism, new
system can be added such as character building, basically how to respect others so, one day
when they grow up they won't corrupt government money because they have enough
respect for the other human being such as government and society.
In the question number two, were gonna talk about law institutions, the institutions who
are going to play a role during the event. These days many politicians can easily do
corruption because many law enforcers are easily bribed with money. That being said,
theres no people in the front line to catch the corrupt politicians and government officials.
They can easily run away because the sad truth is the law enforcers know but they choose
to be silent and enjoy the corruptorss money. This is again, problematic. These law
enforcers are the only people who can enforce the law and regulation. If something goes
wrong they are the ones who will be asked for help. Therefore, government needs to make
sure that these people are really the people of their job. How government can do this?
Government can do screening to every single for example, police, judges, lawyers, and any
other law enforcers in the country to make sure the trust from society is not being misused
for their own advantages. Strict regulations can also be applied and implemented. In china
they kill the government officials who are proven guilty of corruption. This is a very good
prevention to make people afraid to do corruption. Because the truth is how much they love
money, they will most likely choose to be alive because whats the point of having huge
amount of money if they cannot enjoy it.
The next institution who can play a role is media company as informal institution.
Government officials are the people who have interest to be elected again in the next
election. The point is they want to have a good image or good reputation in the eyes of the
society. What media can do is that they can share a corrupt politician publicly so the whole
country can see it. This is what usually called as public shaming. So those people will no
longer have trust from society and their good reputation will be just a history. This will also
be helpful for society so they can be wise to choose who deserves to represent them in
government.
The last and most important institution who will help all of the institution above to
minimalize corruption is Komisi Pemberantasan Korupsi or what we call as KPK. KPKs jobs
are to track down the corrupt peoples wealth and put them in to jail if they are proven
guilty. This institution has been helping government to catch all corrupt politicians and
government officials until now. However, this institution also has to make sure that the
people who are working under the name of KPK are the people who can be trusted,
therefore societys trust can be restored, corruptioncan be minimalized.
As a closing remark, all of those institutions play an important role in minimalizing the
number of corruption in our country. Thus, those institutions cannot work separately but
need to work hand in hand with one another so corruption can be executed properly and
governments money can be saved for countrys establishment.
