0 Purpose and Scope :

1.1 To define the procedure of operation and cleaning of conveyor belt.
1.2 This procedure is applicable for operation and cleaning of conveyor belt
2.0 Responsibilities:
2.1 It is the responsibility of all trained Attendant and Engineer to follow the procedure prescribed in
this SOP during operation and cleaning of conveyor belt.
2.2 It is the responsibility of department head/ Section head to ensure the operation and cleaning of
conveyor belt during the cleaning & operation activity.
2.3 Department head or designee of user department are responsible for giving the training on
regarding tasks and review the related records.
3.0 Procedure:
3.1 Operation:
3.1.1 Ensure proper illumination.
3.1.2 Check and ensure that the belt, d/c, tail drum, all roller like Guide roller, carrier roller,
return roller is cleaned and free from material.
3.1.3 Check & ensure that pull chord is working.(for safety)
3.1.4 Check all connecting belt tail drum with safety guard.
3.1.5 Check & ensure all connecting belt diverter for its position.
3.1.6 Take the line clearance from Electrical deptt.
3.1.7 For Local/ Auto run ensure from CCR and check the whole belt site that no. person is
working.
3.1.8 For auto run inform to CCR to start the conveyor belt.
3.1.9 Before belt start ensure Automatic audible alarms (siren) are usually activate.
3.1.10 For Local run push the green button to start the conveyor belt.
3.2 Cleaning
3.2.1 Clean the conveyor belt as defined in cleaning procedure.
3.2.2 Stop the conveyor belt by pushing the red push button(Local stop)
3.2.3 Take the line clearance from Electrical deptt. & lock the drive with locker.
3.2.4 Inform to CCR person for clearances.
3.2.5 Person who will do all cleaning work should ensure all PPES like dust Mask, goggle,
safety shoes, hand gloves, and helmet.
3.2.6 Check the discharge chute & dont clear with direct hands. Ensure proper PPES first.
3.2.7 Check the tail drum, guide roller, Carrier roller etc. .
3.2.8 Check the belt position out of his position or in center.
3.2.9 Check and ensure that there are no. material in it. Before run.
3.2.10 After cleaning inform to CCR
3.2.11 CCR person will take clearance from all deptt for further work.
