2 Prerequisites
Ensure that health and safety regulations are observed at any given time during the site build.
The weight of the RF unit is close to 25 kg. As such two man lift is recommended.

2.1 HW

HW requirement includes two parts.

- HW for site build configurations

- Additional HW for 3CC CA configuration

2.1.1 HW for site build configurations

The following main HW components are required for the different configurations.

All L7/L18 dual sites require 2xFBBC or 1xFBBA+1xFBBC, and the second BB
extension card has to be FBBC.
It is highly recommended to use only FSMF with 2xFBBC cards in greenfield
deployment.
Please ensure FRPA 1/2/3 are connected to ports RF1/2/4 respectively on
the second FBBC.

* Optional use of FBBA+FBBC is allowed.

** FPFD is a preferred piece of equipment. If not available DC power for RF units needs to be
prepared independently. In partially stacked (L7) and partially distributed (L18) build FPFD would
provide power only to stacked L7 RF modules.

*** Note: Thepreferred build should be based on FOSI SFPs. If a FOSA or FOSG is already installed
and alternation to the existing L18 build is not possible Optus Project Manager needs to approve
build with SFPs other than FOSI. Note fibre check needs to also be run to match the SFP type with
the single mode or multi-mode fibre used on site.

**** Note: FOSI and SM links are also possible.

***** Note: IfFOSI (or FOSA) are used SM fibre is required. If FOSG are used MM fibre is needed
****** Note: MM fibre is preferred with FOSH. SM with FOSI is also possible

2.1.2 Additional HW for 3CC CA configuration

enable Downlink Carrier Aggregation 3CC.

4 L18 RF tails connections for distributed 2T4R

configuration
Some plumbing diagrams show 4R requirement for L18. In this scenario, 4 x RF tails are needed.
Please follow below instructions to connect 4 RF tails between FXEDs and Quad-band combiners.
For example:

Distributed L7 (3xFRPA on monopole)

7/25/2016 Work instruction For internal use Nokia 2016

20 / 55
Please follow below instruction to connect tails when FRPAs are on monopole / roof.

Each L7 sector has its own FRPA.

A feed is connected to FRPA Ant 1, and B feed is connected to FRPA Ant 3 at all 3
sectors.

Note:

L7 FRPA has no internal Bias-T at Antenna port 2, 4 and 6. Those ports are DC short. DC / AISG bus will
be pulled down together with connected antenna line devices, if L7 FRPA port 2, 4 or 6 combines with
any feed from other technologies as current master of MHA / RET.

Recommendation is to separate A and B feeds, combining A feeds within one antenna line; B feeds
following a separate antenna line (feeders, combiners and ALD). DC should be then provided to MHA
via A feeds to avoid DC short.

Ensure that L7 A feed is going to same combiner with A feeds from other technologies, L7 B feed is
going to same combiner with B feeds from other technologies.

6 RF tails connections for 2T4R L7 configuration

with 2xFRPA
The below diagram illustrates tails connections for 2T4R L7 at Sector 1.
Sector 2 and Sector 3 will follow same pattern to get tails connected.
Tails connections for 2T4R L7 with 2 x FRPA:
FRPA 1 Ant1 > 700 MHA A port -> TX/RX Antenna Low Band 1 H+ (+45)
FRPA 1 Ant2 > 700/850/900 combiner A -> RX Antenna Low Band 2 H+ (+45)
FRPA 2 Ant1 > 700 MHA B port -> TX/RX Antenna Low Band 1 H- (-45)
FRPA 2 Ant2 > 700/850/900 combiner B -> RX Antenna Low Band 2 H- (-45)
