Background: Traumatic ulcers are caused by trauma. Zink accelerates the

inflammatory phase by decreasing the number of macrophages. The purpose:
This study was to determine the effect of topical zinc the number of mucosal
traumatic mouth macrophage cells Rattus norvegicus. Methods: This was a
laboratory experimental study, with a post test only control group design design.
The study was conducted on 24 male Rattus Norvegicus aged 2-4 months,
weighing 200 grams. Divided into 4 groups, 1st not given topical zinc. Then 2nd,
3rd, 4th given topical zinc with concentration of 5%, 10%, and 20% everyday.
Giving extract after the formation of traumatic ulcers. Mice were sacrificed on the
5th day for ulcer tissue removal. Then tissue painting with HE and count the
number of macrophages. Then the data were analyzed using One Way ANOVA
statistic test. Results: The results showed that there was an effect of topical zinc
on the number of mucosal traumatic mouth macrophage cells in Rattus
norvegicus mice significantly with significant value of p = 0.000 (p <0.05).
Conclusion: Topical zinc concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 20% can decrease the
number of macrophages in traumatic ulcers.
