Students working in group no more than 5 members are required to submit a project report which deals
with a disk access system. The model for data access from a computer disks assumes that data is read
correctly with probability P on any trial. In the report, the student(s) shall investigate various aspects of
the model as stated below:

1. Plot a family of curves to display the effects of P and N on the probability of success in N trials,
PN.
2. Investigate the sensitivity of PN in respect with P and N analytically and with MATLAB.
3. Investigate using simulation and analysis the average number of trials N that are required for
successful disk access.

This model can be used for other success/failure systems including message transmission systems and
Internet access system.
