C. Method:
1. Preparation of materials
a. Cement was weighed to 2 kilograms and was set aside on the
plain sheet.
2. Mixing of ingredients
a. The dry ingredients were evenly mixed in order;
i. Fine aggregate
ii. Cement
iii. Coarse aggregate
c. Each layer was tamped 25 times distributed evenly over their cross
sections.
d. After the top layer was tamped, excess concrete from the top
surface was removed by a trowel and leakages between the
slump cone and the base was cleaned away.
e. The cone was then raised slowly and carefully in a vertical
direction and was placed next to the slumped concrete in an
inverted position
f. The tamping rod was laid across the top of the slump cone. The
amount of slump was then measured in cm from the bottom of the
tamping rod to the top of the slumped concrete by a ruler.
