 ABSTRACT

For the past few years we are suffering a lot due to global warming. Global warming is

primarily a problem of too much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere that leads to an increase of

temperature, hence we use excessive amount of energy for air-conditioning. Since cooling our

homes consumes an average of 50% of energy cost yearly, using it inefficiently leads to a drastic

increase in consumption of energy, thus there is a grave need for us to conserve energy in every

way possible. The sole purpose of this research is for us contribute in saving the environment by

the means of energy conservation. In order to do that, weve come up a way to solve the problem

mentioned earlier; it is by home automation using arduino and sensors. In this research, we will

be using Arduino Uno as a control system to our air-conditioning unit, Temperature sensor,

relays and Ethernet shield. We also use internet for the data gathering, data push and data pull,

with this system the user will be aware in the changes of temperature. The system is not purely

automatic, even though it is stated that it would be home automation, the user still has the

authority to give instruction via internet. The result of this will ultimately help us save money in

energy consumption at the same time helping the environment. It would be like killing two birds

with one stone.
