INTRODUCTION

1.1 PROJECT SUMMARY

Mapping A Company Network Using 3 Layer Hierarchy

The LAN is the network that provides access to network, communication services and
resources for users and devices Located over a single floor or building. A company network
is created by interconnecting a group of LANs that are Located over a small geographic area.
company network design concepts are inclusive small networks that use a single LAN switch
up to very large networks with thousands of connections.

The Company Wired LAN Technology Design enables communications between

Different devices Located in a same building or group of buildings, as well as interconnection
to the WAN (Wide Area Network) and different Internet edge modules at the network core.

This design provides a network foundation and services that enable:

Tiered LAN connectivity

Wired network access for employees

IP Multicast for efficient data distribution

Wired infrastructure ready for multimedia services

1.2 PURPOSE

Company and industries, as well as Universitites with significant research activities and
campus operations, are focused on shaping the world of tomorrow. Sustainability is
increasingly recognized as a key issue in this endeavor.
Institutions committed to pushing this envelope understand that they have a leadership role
for advancing knowledge, technology, and tools to create a sustainable future. This includes
developing and utilizing their campuses in a way consistent with their overall goals for a
sustainable future. As campus sustainability programs become more sophisticated, there is
1
an increasing need for sharing experiences, measuring achievements and reporting
performance. This requires ongoing conversations in networks of leading scholars and
practitioners.

1.3 SCOPE OF SYSTEM

The Campus Area Network architecture is designed to satisfy the needs of organizations with
LAN connectivity requirements that range from a small to large building location by using
Wired Technology. The purpose of a campus network is to support arbitrary device
connectivity for workers and users in the office and business spaces or meeting places of a
building, such as for laptops, telephones, printers, and video conferencing systems. This is in
contrast to the highly controlled connectivity for servers in a data center or machine and
device connectivity in an industrial network or a WAN.

1.4 OBJECTIVE
The Company Area Network points to the requirements of organizations when designing
Local Area Networks (LANs) to satisfy their data communications needs. It is useful for
Greenfield designs, for optimizing Current networks, and as a reference design offering
operational consistency for an organization as its LAN grows. The scope of coverage applies
to small Buildings with a single router up to large building campuses with a routed core
supporting connectivity to multiple-routed distribution modules.
The Campus Area Network points to the four primary wired LAN requirements shared by
organizations, including the need to:
Offer reliable access to organization resources
Minimize time required to absorb technology investments
Provide a productive and consistent user experience
Reduce operation costs

Packet Tracer

Packet Tracer is a Cisco router simulator that can be utilized in training and education, but
also in research for simple computer network simulations. The tool is created by Cisco
Systems and provided for free distribution to faculty, students, and alumni who are or have
participated in the Cisco Networking Academy. The purpose of Packet Tracer is to offer
students and teachers a Stool to learn the principles of networking as well as develop Cisco
technology specific skills.

4
Features

The current version of Packet Tracer supports an array of simulated Application Layer
protocols, as well as basic routing with RIP,OSPF, and EIGRP, to the extent required by the
current CCNA curriculum. While Packet Tracer aims to provide a realistic simulation of
functional networks, the application itself utilizes only a small number of features found
within the actual hardware running a current CiscoIOS version. Thus, Packet Tracer is
unsuitable for modeling production networks. With the introduction of version 5.3, several
new features were added, including BGP. BGP is not part of the CCNA curriculum, but part
of the CCNP curriculum.

CHAPTER-4
SYSTEM DESIGN TECHNOLOGY AND TOOLS USED

4.1 DEVICES
Networks using a Star topology require a central point for the devices to connect. Originally
this device was called a concentrator since it consolidated the cable runs from all network
devices. The basic form of concentrator is the hub.

Fig(4.1):Switches Image
As shown in Figure; the hub is a hardware device that contains multiple, independent ports
that smatch the cable type of the network. Most common hubs interconnect Category 3 or 5
twisted-pair cable with RJ-45 ends, although Coax BNC and Fiber Optic BNC hubs also
exist. The hub is considered the least common denominator in device concentrators. Hubs
offer an inexpensive option for transporting data between devices, but hubs don't offer any
form of intelligence. Hubs can be active or passive.

4.1.1 SWITCHES

Fig(4.2):Switch connection port and wire

7
Switches are a special type of hub that offers an additional layer of intelligence to basic,
physical-layer repeater hubs. A switch must be able to read the MAC address of each frame it
receives. This information allows switches to repeat incoming data frames only to the
computer or computers to which a frame is addressed. This speeds up the network and
reduces congestion.

Fig(4.3):Switch

Switches operate at both the physical layer and the data link layer of the OSI Model.

4.1.2BRIDGES
A bridge is used to join two network segments together, it allows computers on either
segment to access resources on the other. They can also be used to divide large networks into
smaller segments. Bridges have all the features of repeaters, but can have more nodes, and
since the network is divided, there is fewer computers competing for resources on each
segment thus improving network performance.

Fig(4.4):Bridge
4.1.3ROUTERS
Routers Are networking devices used to extend or segment networks by forwarding packets
from one logical network to another. Routers are most often used in large internetworks that
use the TCP/IP protocol suite and for connecting TCP/IP hosts and local area networks
(LANs) to the Internet using dedicated leased lines.

Fig(4.5):Router Image 1

8
Routers work at the network layer (layer 3) of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI)
reference model for networking to move packets between networks using their logical
addresses (which, in the case of TCP/IP, are the IP addresses of destination hosts on the
network). Because routers operate at a higher OSI level than bridges do, they have better
packet-routing and filtering capabilities and greater processing power, which results in
routers costing more than bridges.

Fig(4.6):Router Image 2

Routing tables

Routers contain internal tables of information called routing tables that keep track of all
known network addresses and possible paths throughout the internetwork, along with cost of
reaching each network. Routers route packets based on the available paths and their costs,
thus taking advantage of redundant paths that can exist in a mesh topology network.

Because routers use destination network addresses of packets, they work only if the
configured network protocol is a routable protocol such as TCP/IP or IPX/SPX. This is
different from bridges, which are protocol independent. The routing tables are the heart of a
router; without them, there's no way for the router to know where to send the packets it
receives.

Unlike bridges and switches, routers cannot compile routing tables from the information in
the data packets they process. This is because the routing table contains more detailed
information than is found in a data packet, and also because the router needs the information
in the table to process the first packets it receives after being activated. A router can't forward
a packet to all possible destinations in the way that a bridge can.

Static routers: These must have their routing tables configured manually with all network
addresses and paths in the internetwork.
Dynamic routers: These automatically create their routing tables by listening to network traffic.
Routing tables are the means by which a router selects the fastest or nearest path to the next
"hop" on the way to a data packet's final destination. This process is done through the use of
routing metrics.
Routing metrics which are the means of determining how much distance or time a packet will
require to reach the final destination. Routing metrics are provided in different forms.

9
hop is simply a router that the packet must travel through.
Ticks measure the time it takes to traverse a link. Each tick is 1/18 of a second. When the router
selects a route based on tick and hop metrics, it chooses the one with the lowest number of ticks
first.

You can use routers, to segment a large network, and to connect local area segments to a
single network backbone that uses a different physical layer and data link layer standard.
They can also be used to connect LAN's to a WAN's.

4.1.4 GATEWAYS
A gateway is a device used to connect networks using different protocols. Gateways operate
at the network layer of the OSI model. In order to communicate with a host on another
network, an IP host must be configured with a route to the destination network. If a
configuration route is not found, the host uses the gateway (default IP router) to transmit the
traffic to the destination host. The default t gateway is where the IP sends packets that are
destined for remote networks. If no default gateway is specified, communication is limited to
the local network. Gateways receive data from a network using one type of protocol stack,
removes that protocol stack and repackages it with the protocol stack that the other network
can use.

Examples
E-mail gateways-for example, a gateway that receives Simple Mail Transfer Protocol
(SMTP) e-mail, translates it into a standard X.400 format, and forwards it to its
destination
Gateway Service for NetWare (GSNW), which enables a machine running Microsoft
Windows NT Server or Windows Server to be a gateway for Windows clients so that
they can access file and print resources on a NetWare server
Gateways between a Systems Network Architecture (SNA) host and computers on a
TCP/IP network, such as the one provided by Microsoft SNA Server
A packet assembler/disassembler (PAD) that provides connectivity between a local
area network (LAN) and an X.25 packet-switching network

4.1.5 NICs (Network Interface Card)

Network Interface Card, or NIC is a hardware card installed in a computer so it can
communicate on a network. The network adapter provides one or more ports for the network
cable to connect to, and it transmits and receives data onto the network cable.

Wireless Lan card

10
Fig(4.7):NIC Card
Every networked computer must also have a network adapter driver, which controls the
network adapter. Each network adapter driver is configured to run with a certain type of
network adapter.

4.1.6 NETWORK CARD

Fig(4.8):Network Card
Adapter Functions Network Interface

Network interface adapters perform a variety of functions that are crucial to getting data to
and from the computer over the network.

These functions are as follows:

Data encapsulation

The network interface adapter and its driver are responsible for building the frame around the
data generated by the network layer protocol, in preparation for transmission. The network
interface adapter also reads the contents of incoming frames and passes the data to the
appropriate network layer protocol.

11
Signal encoding and decoding

The network interface adapter implements the physical layer encoding scheme that converts
the binary data generated by the network layer-now encapsulated in the frame-into electrical
voltages, light pulses, or whatever other signal type the network medium uses, and converts
received signals to binary data for use by the network layer.
Transmission and reception
The primary function of the network interface adapter is to generate and transmit signals of the
appropriate type over the network and to receive incoming signals. The nature of the signals
depends on the network medium and the data-link layer protocol. On a typical LAN, every
computer receives all of the packets transmitted over the network, and the network interface
adapter examines the destination address in each packet, to see if it is intended for that
computer.
Data buffering

Network interface adapters transmit and receive data one frame at a time, so they have built-
in buffers that enable them to store data arriving either from the computer or from the
network until a frame is complete and ready for processing.

Serial/parallel conversion

The communication between the computer and the network interface adapter runs in parallel,
that is, either 16 or 32 bits at a time, depending on the bus the adapter uses. Network
communications, however, are serial (running one bit at a time), so the network interface
adapter is responsible for performing the conversion between the two types of transmissions.

Media access control

The network interface adapter also implements the MAC mechanism that the data-link layer
protocol uses to regulate access to the network medium. The nature of the MAC mechanism
depends on the protocol used.

4.1.7 MODEMS
A modem is a device that makes it possible for computers to communicate over telephone
lines. The word modem comes from Modulate and Demodulate. Because standard telephone
lines use analog signals, and computers digital signals, a sending modem must modulate its
digital signals into analog signals. The computers modem on the receiving end must then
demodulate the analog signals into digital signals.

12
Fig(4.9):Modem
Modems can be external, connected to the computers serial port by an RS-232 cable or
internal in one of the computers expansion slots. Modems connect to the phone line using
standard telephone RJ-11 connectors.

4.2 ROUTING PROTOCOLS

A networked computer must also have one or more protocol drivers (sometimes called a
transport protocol or just a protocol). The protocol driver works between the upper-level
network software and the network adapter to package data to be sent on the network.

In most cases, for two computers to communicate on a network, they must use identical
protocols. Sometimes, a computer is configured to use multiple protocols. In this case, two
computers need only one protocol in common to communicate. For example, a computer
running File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks that uses both NetBEUI and TCP/IP
can communicate with computers using only NetBEUI or TCP/IP.

In this project we are using three protocols:-

RIPV2

OSPF

EIGRP

4.2.1 RIPV2

The Routing Information Protocol (RIP) is a distance-vector routing protocol, which

employs the hop count as a routing metric. RIP prevents routing loops by implementing a
limit on the number of hops allowed in a path from the source to a destination. The maximum
number of hops allowed for RIP is 15. This hop limit, however, also limits the size of
13
networks that RIP can support. A hop count of 16 is considered an infinite distance and used
to deprecate inaccessible, inoperable, or otherwise undesirable routes in the selection
process.RIP version 2 (RIPv2) was developed in 1993 and last standardized in 1998. It
included the ability to carry subnet information, thus supporting Classless Inter-Domain
Routing (CIDR). To maintain backward compatibility, the hop count limit of 15 remained.
RIPv2 has facilities to fully interoperate with the earlier specification if all Must Be
Zero protocol fields in the RIPv1 messages are properly specified. In addition,
a compatibility switch feature allows fine-grained interoperability adjustments.

In an effort to avoid unnecessary load on hosts that do not participate in routing,

RIPv2 multicasts the entire routing table to all adjacent routers at the address 224.0.0.9, as
opposed to RIPv1 which uses broadcast. Unicast addressing is still allowed for special
applications.

4.2.2 OSPF

Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) is a link-state routing protocol for Internet Protocol (IP)
networks. It uses a link state routing algorithm and falls into the group of interior routing
protocols, operating within a single autonomous system (AS). It is defined as OSPF Version
2 in (1998) for IPv4 The updates for IPv6 are specified as OSPF Version 3

OSPF is perhaps the most0 widely used interior gateway protocol (IGP) in large enterprise
networks. IS-IS, another link-state dynamic routing protocol, is more common in large
service provider networks. The most widely used exterior gateway protocol is the Border
Gateway Protocol (BGP), the principal routing protocol between autonomous systems on the
Internet

. OSPF is an interior gateway protocol that routes Internet Protocol (IP) packets solely within
a single routing domain (autonomous system). It gathers link state information from available
routers and constructs a topology map of the network. The topology determines the routing
table presented to the Internet Layer which makes routing decisions based solely on the
destination IP address found in IP packets. OSPF was designed to support variable-length
subnet masking (VLSM) or Classless Inter-Domain Routing (CIDR) addressing models.

OSPF detects changes in the topology, such as link failures, and converges on a new loop-
free routing structure within seconds. It computes the shortest path tree for each route using a
method based on Dijkstra's algorithm, a shortest path first algorithm.

The OSPF routing policies to construct a route table are governed by link cost factors
(external metrics) associated with each routing interface. Cost factors may be the distance of
14
a router (round-trip time), network throughput of a link, or link availability and reliability,
expressed as simple unitless numbers. This provides a dynamic process of traffic load
balancing between routes of equal cost.

An OSPF network may be structured, or subdivided, into routing areas to simplify

administration and optimize traffic and resource utilization. Areas are identified by 32-bit
numbers, expressed either simply in decimal, or often in octet-based dot-decimal notation,
familiar from IPv4 address notation.

4.2.3 EIGRP

Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol - (EIGRP) is an open routing

protocol loosely based on their original IGRP created by Cisco. EIGRP is an
advanced distance-vector routing protocol, with optimizations to minimize both
the routing instability incurred after topology changes, as well as the use of bandwidth and
processing power in the router. Routers that support EIGRP will automatically redistribute
route information to IGRP neighbors by converting the 32 bit EIGRP metric Update
Algorithm (DUAL) work from SRI, which guarantees loop-free operation and provides a
mechanism for fast convergence

CHAPTER-5
TECHNOLOGY AND LITERATURE REVIEW

5.1The Three Layer Hierarchical model

Cisco suggests a ThreeTier (Three Layer) hierarchical network model, that consists of three
layers: the Core layer, the Distribution layer, and the Access layer. Cisco Three-Layer
network model is the preferred approach to network design.

A hierarchical network design model breaks the complex problem of network design into
smaller, more manageable problems. Each level, or tier in the hierarchy addresses a different
set of problems. This helps the designer optimize network hardware and software to perform
specific roles. For example, devices at the lowest tier are optimized to accept traffic into a
network and pass that traffic to the higher layers. Cisco offers a three-tiered hierarchy as the
preferred approach to network design.

In the three-layer network design model, network devices and links are grouped according to
three layers:

Core
Distribution
Access

The three-layer model is a conceptual framework. It is an abstract picture of a network

similar to the concept of the Open System Interconnection (OSI) reference model.

Layered models are useful because they facilitate modularity. Devices at each layer have
similar and well-defined functions. This allows administrators to easily add, replace, and
remove individual pieces of the network. This kind of flexibility and adaptability makes a
hierarchical network design highly scalable.

At the same time, layered models can be difficult to comprehend because the exact
composition of each layer varies from network to network. Each layer of the three-tiered
design model may include the following:

16
A router
A switch
A link
A combination of these

Some networks may combine the function of two layers into a single device or omit a layer
entirely.

The following sections discuss each of the three layers in detail.

5.1.1 Core Layer

Core Layer consists of biggest, fastest, and most expensive routers with the highest model
numbers and Core Layer is considered as the back bone of networks. Core Layer routers are
used to merge geographically separated networks. The Core Layer routers move information
on the network as fast as possible. The switches operating at core layer switches packets as
fast as possible.

The core layer provides an optimized and reliable transport structure by forwarding traffic at
very high speeds. In other words, the core layer switches packets as fast as possible. Devices
at the core layer should not be burdened with any processes that stand in the way of switching
packets at top speed. This includes the following:

Access-list checking
Data encryption
Address translation

5.1.2 Distribution layer:

The Distribution Layer is located between the access and core layers. The purpose of this
layer is to provide boundary definition by implementing access lists and other filters.
Therefore the Distribution Layer defines policy for the network. Distribution Layer include
high-end layer 3 switches. Distribution Layer ensures that packets are properly routed
between subnets and VLANs in your enterprise.

The distribution layer is located between the access and core layers and helps differentiate the
core from the rest of the network. The purpose of this layer is to provide boundary definition
using access lists and other filters to limit what gets into the core. Therefore, this layer
17
defines policy for the network. A policy is an approach to handling certain kinds of traffic,
including the following:

Routing updates
Route summaries
VLAN traffic
Address aggregation

Use these policies to secure networks and to preserve resources by preventing unnecessary
traffic.

If a network has two or more routing protocols, such as Routing Information Protocol (RIP)
and Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (IGRP), information between the different routing
domains is shared, or redistributed, at the distribution layer.

5.1.3Access layer

Access layer includes acces switches which are connected to the end devices (Computers,
Printers, Servers etc). Access layer switches ensures that packets are delivered to the end
devices.
The access layer supplies traffic to the network and performs network entry control. End
users access network resources by way of the access layer. Acting as the front door to a
network, the access layer employs access lists designed to prevent unauthorized users from
gaining entry. The access layer can also give remote sites access to the network by way of a
wide-area technology, such as Frame Relay, ISDN, or leased lines.

5.2 Benefits of Cisco Three-Layer hierarchical model

The main benefits of Cisco Three-Layer hierarchical model is that it helps to design, deploy
and maintain a scalable, trustworthy, cost effective hierarchical internetwork.

Better Performance: Cisco Three Layer Network Model allows in creating high
performance networks

Better management & troubleshooting: Cisco Three Layer Network Model allows better
network management and isolate causes of network trouble.

Better Filter/Policy creation and application: Cisco Three Layer Network Model allows
better filter/policy creation application.

5.3.1Overview of each technology

1. VLAN
A virtual LAN (VLAN) is any broadcast domain that is partitioned and isolated in a
computer network at the data link layer (OSI layer 2). LAN is an abbreviation for
local area network. To subdivide a network into virtual LANs, one configures
network equipment.

20
Fig(5.2):VLAN
2. VTP
VLAN Trunking Protocol (VTP) is a Cisco proprietary protocol that propagates
the definition of Virtual Local Area Networks (VLAN) on the whole local area
network. To do this, VTP carries VLAN information to all the switches in
a VTP domain. VTP advertisements can be sent over 802.1Q, and ISL trunks.
3. DTP
The Dynamic Trunking Protocol (DTP) is a proprietary
networking protocoldeveloped by Cisco Systems for the purpose of
negotiating trunking on a link between two VLAN-aware switches, and for
negotiating the type of trunkingencapsulation to be used.

Fig(5.3):DTP

21
4. STP
The Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) is a network protocolthat builds a logical loop-
free topology for Ethernet networks. The basic function of STP is to prevent bridge
loops and the broadcast radiation that results from them.

Fig(5.4):STP

5. SVI
A Switched Virtual Interface (SVI) is a VLAN of switch ports represented by
oneinterface to a routing or bridging system. There is no physical interface for the
VLAN and the SVI provides the Layer 3 processing for packets from all switch ports
associated with the VLAN.

22
Fig(5.5):SVI

6. EIGRP
Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) is an advanced distance-
vector routing protocol that is used on a computer network for automating routing
decisions and configuration. The protocol was designed by Cisco Systems as a
proprietary protocol, available only on Cisco routers.

Fig(5.6):EIGRP

23
7. ACL
An access control list (ACL), with respect to a computer file system, is a list of
permissions attached to an object. An ACL specifies which users or system processes
are granted access to objects, as well as what operations are allowed on given objects.
8. HSRP
In computer networking, the Hot Standby Router Protocol (HSRP) is a Cisco
proprietary redundancy protocol for establishing a fault-tolerant default gateway.

Fig(5.7):HSRP
9. NAT/PAT
Network address translation (NAT) is a method of remapping one IP address space
into another by modifying network address information in Internet Protocol (IP)
datagram packet headers while they are in transit across a traffic routing device.

24
Fig(5.8):NAT

Port address translation (PAT) is a function that allows multiple users within a
private network to make use of a minimal number of IP addresses. Its basic function
is to share a single IP public address between multiple clients who need to use the
Internet publicly.
10. DHCP
The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a standardized
network protocol used on Internet Protocol (IP) networks. The DHCP is controlled by
a DHCP server that dynamically distributes network configuration parameters, such as
IP addresses, for interfaces and services.

Fig(5.9):DHCP

11. TELNET/SSH
Telnet is a network protocol that allows a user on one computer to log into another
computer that is part of the same network.
Secure Shell (SSH) is a cryptographic network protocol for operating network services
securely over an unsecured network.

25
12.CEF
Cisco Express Forwarding (CEF) is an advanced layer 3 switching technology used
mainly in large core networks or the Internet to enhance the overall network
performance.

12. Port Security

Port security is a layer two traffic control feature on Cisco Catalyst switches. It
enables an administrator configure individual switch ports to allow only a specified
number of source MAC addresses ingressing the port.

Fig(5.10):Port Security
13. Port Fast
When you enable PortFast on the switch, spanning tree places ports in the forwarding
state immediately, instead of going through the listening, learning, and forwarding
states.
14. Subnetting/VLSM/Summarization
A subnetwork or subnet is a logical subdivision of an IP network. The practice of
dividing a network into two or more networks is called subnetting. Computers that
belong to a subnet are addressed with a common, identical, most-significant bit-group
in their IP address.

Variable Length Subnet Mask, abbreviated as VLSM, is a meansto specify a

different subnet mask for the same network number on differentsubnets. With VLSM,
a network administrator can use a long mask on networks with few hosts and a
short mask on subnets with many hosts.

26
Route summarization, also called route aggregation, is a method of minimizing the
number of routing tables in an IP (Internet Protocol) network.

5.4 DEVICES USED

TESTING / TROUBLESHOOTING OF NETWORK

8.1TESTING

The network testing problem is important because networks are hard to build correctly, and
even networks that appear to work most of the time may have subtle bugs that require
intermittent action, such as re-starting network elements. Sometimes, the bugs prevent all
communication. Sometimes, the bugs interfere with only one application. Sometimes, the
bugs prevent the network from carrying the required load. Sometimes, the bugs expose the
network to security violations. The goal of testing is to find faults in the network in order to
correct them, but even just knowing the limitations of a given kind of network, without
correcting faults, can save endless pain - i.e., knowing what loads it can carry, how frequently
devices must be rebooted, how large it can scale, what security vulnerabilities it has.

The network testing problem is especially hard because networks are dynamic. The
component network elements change. The configuration of a given network element may
also change. The connectivity of the network may change because components enter and
leave; it may also change because of failures. In this context, network testing must address
how to determine the correctness of a collection of tested network components, combined in
any of a range of configurations. In this project, we assume that the individual components
of the network have already been tested, and the question to be determined is whether the
network as designed and configured will support the desired services.

Approach

Effective testing has a number of prerequisites:

Testers must know what the network is required to do.

Testers must develop a plan for determining whether the network does what it is
required to do.
Testers must be able to mimic end-user activities, and sometimes must be able to
mimic some of the network elements (if they are not available during testing).
Testers must be able to determine what the system has done in response to their
activities.
90
Testers must be able to measure the effectiveness of the testing done so far (and in
toto).

In addition, testers need models, tools, and processes to help them do the testing efficiently.

CHAPTER-9

CONCLUSION AND FUTURE WORK

8.1Conclusion

Our conclusion is to understand the fabulous concepts of networking, and you become
familiar with networking concepts and also you can understand how we can design the
network of airport and what type of technology are use there and to manage the network in
airport and what type of service are use there and you can understand the higher technology
of networking.

By making project on airport Network, the network infrastructure must have following
properties-

Network centralization and network decentralization:-

Network centralization and network decentralization are about making changes. When
making such pervasive changes, experts recommend that you consider these guiding
principles: know what specific problem you are solving; understand your motivation
for making the change; centralize as much as makes sense for today; recognize that as
in rolling out any new service, it requires careful planning; and, most important, listen
to the customers.
Scalability: Scalable network designs can grow to include new user groups and
remote sites and can support new applications without impacting the level of service
delivered to existing users.
Availability: A network designed for availability is one that delivers consistent,
reliable performance, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition, the failure of a
single link or piece of equipment should not significantly impact network
performance.
Security: Security is a feature that must be designed into the network, not added on
after the network is complete. Planning the location of security devices, filters, and
firewall features is critical to safeguarding network resources.
Manageability: No matter how good the initial network design is, the available
network staff must be able to manage and support the network. A network that is too
complex or difficult to maintain cannot function effectively and efficiently.

95
8.2 FUTURE WORKS :

Better Security: - In future we can provide facility that the User can have better security
from the outside of the network.

SDN Technology: - Software define Networking is an approach to Computer

Networking that allows network administrator to mange network services through
abstraction of higher level Functionalities

High Data Rate: - It is possible to get higher data rate up to tera bits per second to the
end users.
