Risk for Infection


1) Monitor labs q24hr: WBC/differential, RBC, Hgb, Hct, Platelets
2) Monitor vital signs q4hr for signs of infections such as a fever.
3) Assess for signs of bleeding or bruising
4) Port-a-Cath dressing changes using aseptic technique
5) Mask for health care professionals and Pt. during care.
6) Private room
7) Hand Hygiene
8) Limit invasive procedures to decrease risk of infection

Balanced Nutrition
1) Assess daily weight
2) Offer different food options
3) Administer cyproheptadine 1.5mg appetite stimulant T.I.D before meals
4) Offer nutritious snacks in-between meals
5) Fortified foods high in nutrients.
