- Luisa: she will analyse the format and the language terminology in both texts.

Task 3

Today we will focus in analyse two texts, HOW TO WASH YOUR HANDS PROPERLY
and PRONUNCIATION STRATEGIES FOR EAL STUDENTS. We will analyse for
format, grammar, language terminology and use of references.

We will need:

- Procedure: How to wash your hands properly


- Essay : Pronunciation strategies for EAL students
- Class notes

Steps to follow:

PROCEDURE:

Firstly, the format of the procedure has headings, subheadings, ellipsis, colons and a
hyperlink.

Then, the text only uses simple present tense, its grammatical mood is instructional,
describing steps to properly wash our hands. The language used is informal but clear
and easy to understand. Thus, there is no use of conditional sentences, superlative and
comparative forms, nor relative clauses and modal verbs. The text only uses imperative
sentences and indefinite pronouns to express instructions to a big audience of readers.
A lot of dynamic verbs are used, such as place, apply, rub, wrist, and rinse, dry.
But there is only state verb, that is know. Active voice is used throughout the text.
Next, the procedure uses a health care terminology, example: hygienically

ESSAY
Firstly, the format in the essay has headings, subheading, bold words, colons, quotes
marks and brackets.
Next, The essay uses simple present and simple future tense, its grammatical mood is
academic. The language used is formal and clear. There is no use of conditional
sentences. There are three modal verbs used, they are will can could, particularly
will and can are used many time in the essay. Comparative forms on so appear a lot,
for example clearer better sharper more likely. The essay only uses declarative
sentences and personal pronouns. A lot of dynamic verbs are used, such as discuss
focus use help speak call make say spell contain control work. But there are
two state verb, that is believe and sound. Most of the sentences are active voice but
sometime some passive voice also are used, for example: The concept of Stretching
long English words in syllables is commonly used in Australian primary schools.
After that, the essay uses phonetically terminology, example: blends, stretch words,

Finally, we use the references provided for further information on how to use
pronunciation strategies.

Our grup has learnt how to follow requirements, structure and format any kind of
information in an academical task.
