DEVELOPMENT OF AGRICULTURAL WATER PUMPING SYSTEM

USING SOLAR ENERGY

ABSTRACT
In every cultivating year of agriculture, farmers loose lot of yield due to improper
water supply. This happens due to lack of proper power supply to farming area. The lifting of
water for irrigation or drinking purposes is greatly distributed in rural areas due to lack of
electrification even though underground water is available. Usage of renewable energy
resources in rural areas can be a big boon for good cultivation to farmers. Solar energy is an
inexhaustible and can be replenished constantly.So,this project helps in evolution of a new
solution to irrigation pumping using solar energy.

India is tropical location and has a tremendous scope in generating solar energy
throughout the year. Taking this advantage into concern we are trying to develop a concept
which can sophisticate irrigation system. The deficit in electricity and high diesel costs
affects the pumping requirement of community water supplies and irrigation. So using solar
energy for water pumping is a promising alternative to conventional electricity and diesel
based pumping system.

Solar water pumping is found to be economically viable in comparison to electricity

diesel based supply for irrigation in rural, remote areas. Proper implementation of solar
resources in remote areas can lead to a sustainable solution and attributes to rural welfare. It
would also reduce environmental pollution such as air pollution caused. Though initial cost is
high, this project provides pollution free environment and low maintenance and running cost.

solar energy is one of the most reliable,reusable and inexhaustable source of energy.solar
energy is cannot be of any harm to atmosphere.The only thing which is a drawback to usage
of solar energy is that it is expensive.the initial cost of installation of equipment for
production of solar energy is very high when compared to other sources of energy.but it
becomes very reliable and advantageous over a long period of time as solar energy is never
inexhaustible. Taking this advantage into concern we are tryijng to develop an irrigation
supply system which can be greatly advantageous in various remote areas and areas where
electricity is not available.
