Carbohydrates: The recommended amount of carbohydrates that my body needs is about
225-325 grams per day. This is recommended because researchers say that people need to
have 45-65% of their calories made of carbohydrates. I have eaten an average of 246.6 grams
of protein everyday, so I am near the lower end of the spectrum of carbohydrate intake. People
need carbohydrates (carbs) in their diet because carbs are the main source of energy for
everybody. They give good nutrients to our muscles and the bacteria that helps us eat and
digest.

Protein: The recommended amount of protein that my body needs to be healthy is about 44
grams per day (0.36 grams multiplied by body weight in pounds). This is the lowest amount of
proteins your body needs, though, so people usually eat more than this. This is recommended
to prevent a shortage or lack of protein in your body. I have eaten an average of 87 grams of
protein per day, so I almost doubled the least amount needed. This is a good amount because I
can keep my muscles healthy. People need protein because they are the main building block of
human bodies, just like cells are the basic unit of living things. Every cell in the human body
needs protein.

Saturated Fats: The recommended amount of saturated fats that my body needs to be healthy
is about 16 grams per day. This is recommended because too much saturated fat could give
people high cholesterol, which leads to heart disease. I eat an average of 39.9 grams of
saturated fats everyday, and that is a big problem. I need to cut down on all of the saturated fat I
eat. People need this recommended amount of saturated fats, though, to prevent heart disease
and even to lose weight.

Unsaturated Fats: The recommended amount of unsaturated fats are 40-62 grams per day. This
is recommended because unsaturated fats provide energy to the body. I eat about 12 grams per
day. I need to increase my intake of unsaturated fats to be healthy. People need unsaturated
fats because these fats are associated with good health. Unsaturated fats help keep the
muscles strong and running.

Every living organism needs energy to survive and function, and they obtain this energy from
food. Metabolism or the metabolic process is the chemical reaction that occurs in humans.
These reactions include growth and movement, which helps maintain homeostasis.

My food journal has really helped inform me about my eating habits: what I eat
too much or too little. I realized that my diet consists mostly of carbohydrates, but that is
okay because about 45-65% of my diet should consist of carbs. About of my diet is
protein, and that is a fair amount for my age. I need to cut down on my saturated fats
because I am eating twice the recommended amount. I also need to increase my
unsaturated fat because I am severely lacking in that category. In conclusion, I need to
add more unsaturated fat to my diet, subtract more saturated fat from my diet, and keep
the servings of carbohydrates and protein the same because I am doing fine in those
two categories.
