My Food Pyramid
Recommended Food Pyramid
Reflection
As a 14 year old, my body has a fast and steady metabolism,
therefore the recommended servings based on the 2000 calorie diet works
out with my actual servings. My body only requires the recommended
because I do not do heavy athletics, but I will start training in swim soon. As
if right now, I only need the recommended diet as seen on the Pyramid
above. Proteins really are a crucial for humans, our, metabolic process and
the energy conversion within organisms to support homeostasis. When our
muscles break down, our proteins help build them back up. Not only that,
proteins synthesize another biomolecule called enzymes. Enzymes speed
up the chemical reactions in a cell, but only for a specific reason such as
digestion. As a result, the enzymes metabolized digestion. The scientific
meaning of metabolism dicts the chemical process that occur within an
living organism in order for maintaining life. Other enzymes help break
larger molecules into smaller molecules that are easily absorbed by our
bodies. Carbohydrates are our main sources of energy, it's used first rather
then proteins and lipids. We need a steady and recommended amount of
carbohydrates, because without them our body will go to other parts to get
the energy it needs such as out muscle. It will literally eat our muscle just
to maintain homeostasis and our metabolism. During digestion, the
carbohydrates are converted to glucose and other sugars to provide energy
among the tissues in our bodies. The glucose and other sugars are
absorbed into our bloodstreams in order for it to be transported among the
body. Both of these biomolecules are crucial for human life as they help us
metabolize and maintain homeostasis. The proteins help repair our muscle
tissues and synthesize enzymes to speed up the metabolism in the cells in
our body. Meanwhile, the carbohydrates convert into glucose and other
sugars, which are transported to cells with the steady and sufficient source
of energy. In the end, both biomolecules support humans homeostasis.
Concluding Statement
By reflecting on my food journal, I confirmed that my personal choices
with the food I eat and the drinks I drink are healthy and are beneficial for
my body's metabolism and support homeostasis.
