At all times, participants shall conduct themselves in a seemly manner and not to cause
offence to any reasonable member of the public.
2. Participants shall be appropriately and decently attired (preferably formal), maintain absolute
patient confidentiality and be at all times courteous to patients, visitors and staff. Participants
shall comply with KKM hospital dress code and identity tag shall be worn in all patient areas.
3. Participants shall abide by all rules and regulations pertinent to the hospital and conform to
accepted norms of good conduct.
4. Participants shall treat buildings, the environment, apparatus, library materials, resources,
and other facilities with due care and respect. Any participants responsible for damage to
property will be required to pay for its repair or replacement.
5. Smoking of any tobacco product is prohibited during the site visit.
6. Participants shall identify themselves as such to patients and shall not claim to be doctor or
any other healthcare professional; obtain the pharmacists and patients agreement before any
interview is undertaken; provide advice and education on pharmaceutical care issues only after
due discussion with the supervisor; not carry out any physical examination of or technical
procedure on patients; treat all patient records in strict confidence and shall not divulge
any patient information, however obtained, to any unauthorised person; take care to
anonymised patient information is used in case studies and reports; wherever indicated follow
all prescribed rules and procedures for infection control.
8.Participants shall ensure that their use of cellular telephones does not interfere with the
operation of electronic infusion devices. Participants shall ensure that cellular phone use in
hospital service areas is not disruptive or discourteous.
9. Participants should maintain anonymity of patient, healthcare professional and hospital
under their clerkship.
10.Patients case notes should not be removed from the premises of the ward throughout the
period of clerkship. Participants should, under no circumstances, take apart any pages of the
patients progress notes or medication chart.
