Thesis on Tochigi:

Tochigi is a landlocked prefecture of Japan about 2 hours north of Tokyo.

It is famous for Nikko, the final resting place of Tokugawa Ieyasu.

But in addition to that it has many ancient temples and shrines, river rafting with poles, lush green
mountains to hike and a plethora of hot springs or onsen. Some of the onsen are even co-ed where men
and women bathe freely together.

To get there it is suggested to fly into Tokyo and take a train from there which will run about $30USD
each way.
