1. DESCRIPTION

One of the most important functions of transformer oil is to provide electrical Insulation
under high electrical potentials. The dielectric strength of transformer oil is a measure of the
oils ability to withstand electrical stress without failure. Any significant reduction in the
dielectric strength will indicate that the oil is no longer able to perform this vital function.

Any increase in moisture content can reduce the insulating properties of the oil, which may
result in dielectric breakdown .Some of the things that can cause a reduction in dielectric
strength include contaminants such as water, sediment, conducting particles, oil
degradation by-products and cellulose paper breakdown.

The Oil Testing Kit (Oil Test Kit / Oil Breakdown Voltage tester) is a single unit compact
instrument to measure the di electric strength of transformer oils.

Application:-

This Oil Test Set is very essential for transformer & switchgear manufacturers, also for oil
filtering units, electrical repairs and maintenance shops & Educational Institutes, R&D
Centers, Engineering Colleges, Polytechnics & ITIs.

Features:-

Oil Testing Kit (Oil Test Set) is a portable unit as per relevant Indian
Standard Specification IS :6792 :1992
Operation on 230 / 240 Volts, A.C. 50 Hz
Continuously Variable Output Voltage
Digital KV voltmeter to measure output voltage. Test Cup with cover
is made of Methyl Mathacrylate (ACRYLIC) having oil filling capacity
of 300 to 500 ml, with Stirrer facility or adjustable and removable
mushroom head and ground to adjust the Electrode gap distance
Manual operation
The equipment is a portable compact Motorized single unit of
pleasing appearance & colour
Fabricated sheet steel cabinet duly powder coated & provided with
substantial lifting handles

3 . Operating Instructions

Maximum safety of operator as well as the equipment is ensured while designing

The output regulator is interlocked at its minimum position so that H.V. can be switched 'ON'
only when the voltage regulator at 'zero' and the hood is shut

The output voltage regulator must be brought to 'ZERO' after every test. And HV alert
Buzzer or Beep Sound indication.

The hood leading to H.V. terminals has a safety switch fitted, so that opening of the hood
shuts the H.V. OFF'
