Criticality ASSESSMENT OF WATER PIPELINES

Dear Sir/Madam

We would like to express our appreciation and gratitude to you for taking part of your time to
complete this questionnaire, which aims to identify the degree of importance of the factors affecting
the criticality assessment of water pipelines. The questionnaire is needed for a research project to
build a criticality assessment model which will be integrated with a reliability model to provide a
holistic performance assessment model for water pipelines. The information in the questionnaire will
be used solely for research purposes and will be treated in absolute confidentiality. The literature
review and the interviews with experts have indicated that the main factors having an effect on the

criticality of the water pipelines are as shown in Figure 1.

After reviewing the main factors listed; kindly fill in parts (1) to (3) of this questionnaire.

PART (1) : GENERAL INFORMATION
1) How do you describe your occupation?

2) How long do you describe your working experience?

PART (2): PAIRWISE COMPARISON BETWEEN FACTORS

In an attempt to determine the degree of importance of factors affecting the criticality of
water pipelines, kindly fill the tables in the next pages by ticking () in the appropriate box based on
your point of view:
Example:
In the table below, consider comparing Pipeline Size (Criterion X) with Pipeline Material (Criterion Y) with respect to Physical Factors.

Part (3): Water Components Weights:

Assume that a hypothetical segment of water encompasses a pipe, an isolation valve, a control
valve, and a hydrant. Kindly fill the following table to show the degree of importance of water
components. The total percentages should sum to 100.
