A working title: Two wings

Outline of plot: schizophrenic, who believes you are born with your own personal death
next to you and they follow you all the way through your life, however he believes you
never see them. Even when you suddenly turn around, you don't see them, until the day
you die when they show themselves to you, and they then explain to you they will look
after you and take you somewhere special (to the afterlife), well at least this is what he
believes. We later understand in the episode this schizophrenic Is paranoid he is being
bad and not a good person. This is because he believes his death that follows him judges
him if he's being bad or good person throughout life and at the end of his life his death
decides if he can go to the afterlife or has to go to hell. This scene however will be set in
his living room in Adams home where he it is him talking to a psychiatrist, however the
piece will be set when its the first encounter of each other, because it's the first time hey
have both met we here Adams views and how he perceives life. We also develop our
knowledge on the Adam for example the way he acts and is approach to life. The
episodes follows Adam and his day to day life and how he copes with his schizophrenia,
throughout the first episode the audience will not realise he is schizophrenic or mad until
the end of the episode where we see him meet his psychiatrist and this is where I will be
starting the scene. The serious follows the main character Adam and how he copes with
this death that follows him around, throughout the serious we see Adam go crazy as he
always has his death following him around and always talking to him in to his ear. When
he starts going crazy he gets worse and worse until he murders someone by accident, and
it this point Adam gets scared and his schizophrenia becomes worst, the serious then
follows him coping with it and all the drama and events he has to go through . The film on
location scene will be the main character walking down the street towards his home and
before he enters his house to go into the living to meet with his psychiatrist. The on
location scene will be about his death talking to him, we see them walking back to his
house and his death (person who follows him) explains to Adam how he shouldn't have hit
that guy that skipped in front of him in the queue, then Adam and his death have big
argument and Adam explains he did the right thing but the Death thinks he did the wrong
thing (talking about morality what is right and wrong) Adam then later exclaims this person
that the audience sees is all in his head. Throughout this on set location Adam has a nose
bleed and a cheek that looks a little red from a punch from the face.

Location: The serious will be set in Cambridge, this is because the part ill be filming will
be the more poorer part of Cambridge and I think this will really juxtapose what he thinks
and sees live. However in this scene I will be filming it will be set in his front room of his
home.

Characters: The main character is a schizophrenic named Adam, who is around 21/25 he
is a tall male with dark hair. The other character which is the psychiatrist is male man
aged 30/40 his name is Mr. Lauder. We also meet another character who is Adams
career.

Narrative theme: The narrative theme for my short is going to be fear and struggle. As
we see Adam fear his death and struggle coming to grips with it not being real.
Identified target audience: The target audience for this piece will be young adults from
18 to 30 year olds, this will be a wide audience with both male and female in it. This show
will appeal to them as it uses a dark plot as well as having a storyline that is very relevant
and up to date in todays world, for example it will have politically correct statements.

Where might the show be screened / scheduled?: As I have such a young target
audience with both male and female in, as well as my drama that is produced to entertain.
The show should be screened on Channel 4, as channel 4 is directed at a younger
audience. Channel 4 also air entertaining programs for their demographic and I feel my Tv
drama will fall under this categories and work very well with Channel 4's entertainment.

Who might distribute it and at what time would it be broadcast?: Channel 4 would be
the main broadcast company to distribute it, as my Tv program really reflects what kind of
content Channel 4 releases on their tv station, as well as my target audience being much
younger this would be perfect for channel 4 to release as it means they would get more
ratings as I have such a younger demographic. Channel 4 is aimed at younger audiences
so this would be perfect fro them. The time it would be on would be at 9 o'clock as it might
have some regulations with the BBFC so it will have to be aired after the water shed, it
would be aired mid week such as a Wednesday as this is the usual time most young
adults will have time to watch it. The main reason why this would be aired on Channel 4 is
because, like I said it is a little similar to some of programs channel 4 have aired such as
Black mirror which had a very successful first and second season on Channel 4

Research into genre and the conventions of that genre:

TV drama - My two chosen TV dramas are Derek and Black mirror

The conventions in both Derek and Black mirror are very similar for example convention
include.

Both having well know opening credits/theme tunes

Having open-ended endings as well as having other storylines linked in from
previous episodes
Characters
Location
lighting
storyline

In Derek the storyline is always very dark and has very relevant storylines in respect of
today society the same as black mirror. They both use setting to convey a message this
here is a convention of both Derek and black mirror, another convention would be the
characters in both programs as well as the storyline. All of these conventions in both these
programs I will need to be using in my TV drama.

Budget (Where will the funding come from? Expenses, Actors rates): A company that
may offer my production money would be a production company called Red Productions
they are a well know production company which has produced many Tv dramas for
Channel 4 such as 'Trust me', 'The last tango in Halifax' and 'Cucumber'.

The cost for creating this show will be reasonably cheap. I am expecting an episode to
cost around 100,000 per episode. The costs are as shown:

Studio Hire - 1,250 per Day

Location fees - 1000 per day
Camera Hire - 150 x3 per Day
Tripod Hire - 35 x3 per Day
Lens Pack Hire - 75 x3 per Day
Director - 300per Day
Camera operator - 375 x3 per Day
Lighting operator - 350
actors -5,000 - 10,00 per Day

Legal and Ethical Issues (BBFC Rating, Ofcom Guidelines, use of intellectual
property): For my Tv drama the rating the BBFC would give it would be a 15, as it will
use a heavy amount of bad language, talks about drug use and it may condone violence.
Because of this rating the Tv drama would have to be aired after 9 o'clock during the week
this is because it needs to be aired after the water shed. However because it has such
heavy violence and might condone violence it might have to be on later for example 10
o'clock.

As I will have political statements in my piece I will need to follow one of Ofcoms
rules which is being politically correct.

I will also need to be careful of product placement as this is also one of ofcoms
rules

I have also respectfully put my drama after nine o'clock in the week which respects
ofcoms rules of having bad language drug use etc before the water shed.

Having younger actors on set (18 year olds and below) Having them see
uncensored content.

With intellectual property I will need to be careful of any copyright issues and especially
slander as I one of my characters will be a schizophrenic so I will need to be careful and
not make false statements on how schizophrenic people act. I will also need to have a
patent meaning I own this idea or creation and no one else can take it.
