Secures FSO Benchamas 2 Project; maintain HOLD Statistics

Shariah status Yes
Contribution from the new brownfield FSO project in Gulf of Thailand is 52w high/low (MYR) 9.39/7.25
insignificant to MISC, lifting our FY18 net profit and SOP by <1%. 3m avg turnover (USDm) 5.6
However, it signals the Groups optimism and competitiveness in securing Free float (%) 31.7
more brownfield projects in the region. We maintain our earnings Issued shares (m) 4,464

MISC has been awarded a contract for the lease and operations of a FSO Permodalan Nasional Bhd. 5.0%
for the FSO Benchamas 2 Project by Chevron Offshore (Thailand) Limited

in the Gulf of Thailand. The contract is valued at USD230m for a duration
of 10 years with the option to extend up to 5 years. The FSO is scheduled 9.5 210

to commence operation by 2Q18. This is MISCs maiden foray into 9.0 190
Thailands offshore oil and gas market.

Insignificant contribution 8.0 150

As we understand that MISC will convert its old Aframax for this project 7.5 130

(conversion job to take 18 months), the capex for this brownfield FSO 7.0 110
could be relatively low. Given the competitive environment, we believe

the project IRR could be in the single digit territory and may have a net Aug-14 Nov-14 Feb-15 May-15 Aug-15 Nov-15 Feb-16 May-16

margin of around 20%, indicating net profit of USD5m p.a. (or <1%

Relative to index (%) (1) (2) (12)
Given that the contribution from this latest FSO project is insignificant,
Source: FactSet
we maintain our earnings forecasts and SOP-based TP of MYR7.60. We
remain lukewarm on MISC as its earnings will likely be weaker seasonally
in 3Q16 (on depressed petroleum tanker rates) and may pick up again
only in 4Q16 (maiden contribution from new assets and seasonal uptick in
petroleum tanker rates).
