Context: For my A2 coursework I am creating a 5 minute short film aimed at young adults. I
have chosen to focus on a mental condition and how it can impact on your life.
Proposed Synopsis: My film will follow a girl named Eve who has schizophrenia. I plan to
show the schizophrenia through a clown which constantly follows her. The twist is uncertain
yet but I have two ideas which I will ask you below.
Schizophrenia: Schizophrenia is a brain disorder that affects the way a person behaves,
thinks, and sees the world. The most common form is paranoid schizophrenia, or
schizophrenia with paranoia as its often called. People with paranoid schizophrenia have an
altered perception of reality. They may see or hear things that dont exist, speak in strange
or confusing ways, believe that others are trying to harm them, or feel like theyre being
constantly watched.

However, none of the other characters will be able to see this clown. From this

3. What would be a good way to show someone has schizophrenia?

4. What would be best, to have the short film spread across one day where we follow
the character and her condition or spread across several days seeing her condition
getting worse and worse? One day Several days

5. When you have schizophrenia you are often prescribed medication to cope. Would
this be an effective ending, showing Eve finding her medication and taking it which
results in the clown disappearing around the corner until next time?
