ICT Academy has been playing an instrumental role in forging

a strong relationship between the academia and the industry.
The Academy has evolved the various aspects of the
curriculum, research, and teaching methods, for a country
that counts technology as its key differentiator. The efforts
of ICT Academy are primarily centered on talent building,
research, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
The rigorous exercises of the Academy in skilling the talent

pool in the nation, particularly in tier II and tier III belts, has
fetched it an edge for national expansion.

CEOs message
India holds an important place in the global education industry. The country
has more than 1.4 million schools with over 227 million students enrolled
and more than 36,000 higher education institutes. However, there is still a
lot of potential for further development in the education system. According
to several reports, India will have a surplus of 47 million workers by 2020,
equal to the worlds shortfall. This young workforce will be a remarkable
human capital asset for India, provided it is well educated and skilled.
Given the skilling potential lying with India, the Government of India has initiated the Skill India vision. ICT Academy
aligns its training programs and courses in line with the Skill India vision. In 2016, ICT Academy came out with niche
courses for the Government and academia. Recently, ICT Academy has trained the police constables in the state of
Puducherry on Digital Literacy. This training program is a first-of-its-kind program for ICT Academy, and it has created
a positive change in the working style of the constables and increased the usage of technology in day-to-day activity.
Further, the Academy is implementing AICTE - EMPLOYABILITY ENHANCEMENT TRAINING PROGRAM throughout
the North Eastern states of India to train the students.
Beyond the regular skilling programs, ICT Academy is the accredited training partner of National Academy of Customs,
Excise & Narcotics (NACEN) and is organizing an intensive 3-Day course on GST following the Government mandate
to the NACEN to impart training on GST to Central and State Government officers.
ICT Academy does not restrict itself with talent creation; it also extends career opportunities through its unique
initiative Link. Link The Mega Job Fair creates opportunities for students trained by ICT Academy through State /
Central Government projects to participate in common placement drives to be conducted across India. This initiative
is supported by corporate in order to provide an opportunity for students in the Tier II and Tier III cities to showcase
themselves to organizations and obtain their dream campus placement offers.
Following the endorsement of NITI Aayog last year, ICT Academy is now stretching throughout India and is already
operational in 8 regions with presence in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and
Uttar Pradesh other than Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
This year ICT Academy will focus more on the online learning opportunities and the use of digital learning tools in order
to help increase educational productivity by accelerating the rate of learning; program delivery; and utilizing better the
teachers time.
ICT Academy thanks all its stakeholders in Government, Corporate and Academia, for the support rendered since the
inception of the Academy. We believe serving the nation with intent potential in the years to come evolving with newer
initiatives to build this great nation.

1 . 1 a b o u t IC T Acad emy
ICT Academy is an initiative of the Government of India in collaboration with the State Governments and Industry. ICT
Academy is a not-for-profit organization, the first of its kind venture under the Public-Private-Partnership model that
endeavors to train the higher education teachers and students thereby exercises developing the next generation teachers
and industry ready students.
ICT Academy was started to meet the skill requirements of the industry and generate more employment especially in tier
2 and 3 parts of the country. The organization was formed with representations from Government and Industry.
With training of teachers and students as the primary objective, ICT Academy has been working through a seven pillar
program in the areas of Faculty Development, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship Development, Youth Empowerment,
Industry-Institute Interaction, Digital Empowerment and Research & Publications.
ICT Academy is continuously striving on every aspect to provide a holistic service to every stakeholder of the education
ecosystem in developing the next generation of talent pool in India to make them industry ready employees, innovators,
entrepreneurs and leaders.
ICT Academy is endorsed and recommended by NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India Aayog), the
National Planning body of Government of India as one of the unique organizations for dissemination and replication, which
is aligned to the Skill India Vision of the Government of India.
Through its various initiatives, ICT Academy has been part of strengthening the Indias four important visions on Skill India,
Digital India, Startup India and Make in India

ICT Academy has partnered with various universities in India as its Nodal Universities. These Nodal Universities provide
infrastructure support to ICT Academy, thereby enable ICT Academy to deliver its training programs in various parts of

ICT Academy focuses on developing the faculty members and students in the nation by associating with leading corporate.
ICT Academy has been implementing various niche and contemporary Faculty Development Programs and Student
Empowerment Programs through its nodal universities and member institutions, benefiting all the institutions in the nation.
The primary objective of ICT Academy include Faculty Capability Development and Student Skill Development in the
higher education.
3.1.1 Faculty Development Programs

ICT Academy was started with an initial objective of training 5000 faculty members in the state of Tamil Nadu. With this
objective, ICT Academy has been implementing a range of Faculty Development Programs in the ICT domain for the
Faculty Members across the nation. These FDPs are designed and offered in association with leading corporate.

3.1.2 Student Empowerment Programs

ICT Academy has developed various Employability Skills Development course modules on various domains. These Skill
Development Programs include Technical and Soft Skills course modules. These courses are created with a vision to
enhance the skills that students require to become industry-ready. All courses are developed through the ICT Academy
Course Development Framework which is guided by the Industry experts. The Student Skill Development courses are
offered in ToT model and ILT Model.

corporate contribute not only the technical know-how, but also the time and effort of senior members from the organization
that they spend for ICT Academy on bridging the Industry-Academia skill gap. These partner companies provide inputs to
ICT Academy on the current industry trends, skill requirements for the future, etc., apart from directly supporting through
providing content and experts for training. Starting with the ICT Companies, ICT Academy is also establishing partnership
with Manufacturing, Retail, BFSI, Hospitality and Automobile sector companies. A group of senior executives from these

ICT Academy organizes its flagship conference titled BRIDGE a platform for all the stakeholders in the education
ecosystem to discuss on improving the Industry-Institute collaboration, thereby creating a vibrant industry relevant
education scenario in the country. The conference is supported by Government of Tamil Nadu and ELCOT. Started in
the year 2011, the conference has been receiving an overwhelming response from all the stakeholders of the knowledge
ecosystem, represented by a multitude of leaders from Academia, Corporate, Government and Media.
The objective of this conference series is to create a platform for all the stakeholders in the education ecosystem to
discuss various aspects of higher education including Skill Development, Employability, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, and
Industry trends, which support the academic institutions in creating next generation talent pool. For academic institutions
to prepare themselves for creating the new generation of talent pool. In the financial year 2016 - 2017, ICT Academy has
conducted Bridge conference in 3 major towns in the state of Tamil Nadu, enlightening the Tier II / III cities of the state. This
year (2017), ICT Academy organised its 25th BRIDGE Conference. The 25th edition of BRIDGE has created cognizance

The Social Welfare and Nutritious Meal Programme Department has introduced various schemes to educate and uplift
the downtrodden children. Concentrating in the demands of organized and unorganized service sector The Social Welfare
Department and ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu has designed an exclusive course that is in trend with the industry demands.
Training in the course will help the children in easily fetching them job opportunities.
ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu is to train 100 beneficiaries every year under this scheme in a span of given 2 months. The
beneficiaries being the category of 11th. And 12th. Class girl children between the age of 14-22 years are being trained in
IT Skills, English Language and Office Management. The Social Welfare Homes are being located across 5 regions in Tamil
Nadu like Chennai, Cuddalore, Salem, Sivagangai and Tirunelveli. After successful completion of the training with study
materials, they are being assessed and certified. Through this program ICT Academy is achieving the objective of making
the girl children employable and thus paves the way to improve their lifestyle.

The Labour Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu for the first time in South India has constituted an Institute for
Labour Management. The Tamil Nadu Institute of Labour studies is conducting UG, PG and Diploma Courses in Labour
Management. With the objective of enhancing the skills of these students, the Labour Department through Tamil Nadu Skill
Development Corporation (TNSDC) initiated for the students to be trained in IT & Soft Skills. A 200 Hours training of IT &
Soft Skills gives the student enough of confidence to work with computers and internet applications. The soft skill training
helps the student to present himself with better communication and behavioral skills.

Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Ministry of Youth Affairs, Govt. of India under its Livelihood
Programmes for the youth, initiated an Employability Skill Training for the SC/ST youth of the country. The program is
aimed at getting the graduating youth ready for employment. The program was intended to train the youth in the areas
of their interest in a career they are looking for. So skill training in the Banking Sector and ITeS Sector were offered to the
students. In todays employment industry, the industry finds it difficult to hire freshers and train them to be productive.
The training helped them to attain the skill sets required for an entry level job in the areas of their interest. Placement
opportunities are also provided to the trained students. ICT Academy has trained 1000 students in the states of Odisha,
Chhattisgarh, Assam, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradhesh, Puducherry and Tamil Nadu.

Technological trends have been advancing year on year in the recent past. Engineering students who are pursuing
their Under Graduation have been deprived of the advancements which are not part of their curriculum and thus the
requirement for such Advanced IT & ITeS Training to be imparted for the students to be industry ready. ICT Academy has
worked with TNSDC to train 300 students across Tamil Nadu and initiated the Advanced IT & ITeS designing courses with
the latest industry requirements. The training is targeted for final year students with the objective of getting them ready
for employment. Placement Drives are being facilitated, thus creating employment opportunities for the students. ICT
Academy has completed the training and is now in the process of facilitating employment opportunities for the students
trained.

The emerging career opportunities in the Banking Financial Services and Insurance Sector has made imperative the need
to have courses designed to build the skills of the graduating youth looking for a career in the domain. With the range
of products and services of Banking, Financial and Insurance Sectors increasing widely, career opportunities also keeps
increasing year on year. Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation, looking at the demand of skill resource in the Industry,
year on year initiates training for the unemployed graduated youth in the BFSI Sector. ICT Academy has joined hands with
TNSDC to, skills the unemployed youth in the BFSI Sector and facilitates employment opportunities. ICT Academy is now
imparting training for 800 students across Tamil Nadu.

Providing skilled manpower ready to be deployed to the labour market has been the commitment of ICT Academy and
Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC) . ICT Academy along with TNSDC has been working in identifying the
skills in demand across various industries. Looking at the significant growth and to cater to the growing needs of skilled
manpower for the industry, ICT Academy has designed the curriculum in discussion with the corporates of the telecom
industry. ICT Academy is now training 600 Students across Tamil Nadu in the Telecom Sector.

Over the last decade, Indian retail industry has witnessed remarkable business growth. Over the last few years it has
grown at a Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 13.3%. Understanding this growth TNSDC in its mission to get the
unemployed youth ready to be employed, along with ICT Academy is catering to the needs of the retail industry to train
1000 unemployed youth in the retail sector. ICT Academy has worked with the bigwigs of the retail industry in designing
the curriculum framework to meet the skill requirements of the global retail industry.

Every skilled driver has the potential to be transformed into a smart driver and an entrepreneur, if he receives the right
guidance and training. It is not just about teaching him better road sense. It is about going beyond that and enhancing his
abilities and soft skills. ICT Academy has carefully designed modules to teach him etiquette and enhance his proficiency
in communication, the finer points about dealing with passengers and customers, grooming, car care and hygiene and a
whole range of other qualities and abilities. A driver is very often the public face of the company. A well trained driver can
enhance the image of the company considerably. With this objective, ICT Academys proposal to train drivers became a
reality and have bagged the order of training 2000 drivers across Tamil Nadu.

Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) is a centrally sponsored scheme for the Higher Education Department
aiming at providing strategic funding with the objective of enhancing the quality of the Educational Institutions and the
quality of the students. Under the RUSA scheme the Higher Education Department of Tamil Nadu initiated Vocational
Training to be imparted for the Final Year Students of 19 Govt. Autonomous Arts & Science Colleges for over 15000
students. The objective was to enhance the skills of the students and get them ready for employment for specific job roles.
The Vocational Training Project was handed over to TNSDC for implementation. ICT Academy trained 3332 students under
the scheme in the Banking, Telecom, and Retail & IT & ITeS Sectors.

In order to develop the graduating students to be more employable in the ICT sector organizations, the Government of
Puducherry has been constantly taking various training initiatives. With this background, the department of Information
Technology, Government of Puducherry came up with a novel initiative to skill all these final year students in the state on
employability skills thereby making them readily employable in the ICT sectors. This scheme is jointly implemented by

Through this training, ICT Academy has trained 250 constables in the state of Puducherry on Digital Literacy. This training
program has spread Digital Literacy among all constables in police department in the state of Puducherry. The primary
goal of this program was to enhance the technology proficiency of the constables across Puducherry and to create a state
with all e-literate constables in the Police Department. On completion of the project, constables were trained, assessed
and certified and thus a mass digital literacy among the members in Police Department was created. This training program
created a positive change in the working style of the constables and increased the usage of technology in day to day
activities of the department
9 . 1 2 Di g i tal L i t eracy fo r S cho o l Teachers

This is an initiative that intends to bridge the gap and enable teachers to make use of technology to impart education in
the schools. Through this project ICT Academy has trained 470 teachers from the school education department on digital
skills that are required for effective teaching. This training prograam motivated the teachers to use the available ICT tools
and the ICT enabled classrooms. The training program created a great impact among the students and increased the
understanding ability of the students. This program served as a way to enhance the teaching and learning platform one
step ahead to the world class level.

able to attract suitable employment options. In todays competitive business world and difficult economy, lucid, effective
communication is more essential than ever before. It is the foundation on which careers are built, which is a crucial
component of lasting success. ICT Academy team of experts has designed a premium program under ICT Academy Youth
Initiatives in empowering aspiring students and training them to make the transition from the campus to their professional
world successfully.
ICT Academy Youth Circles mission is to help the students improve the skills of speaking, listening and thinking, through a
relaxed, friendly and supportive environment. Every student has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership
skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth. ICT Academy Youth Circle involves providing opportunities
for youth to practice English speaking skills by sharing the experience, reflecting on the speech, connecting it to real life
examples, and applying the knowledge that results to other situations.

Youth PRESENT is a national presentation contest conducted to bring out the effective presentation and communication
skills in students through their inspiring presentations on any topic of their passion that inspires their peers. Each contestant
presents an interesting format of 10 minutes to present with 20 Slides, each displayed for 30 seconds. This initiative
identifies young, powerful and effective communicators. ICT Academy Youth Present is organized regionally across the

Youth Talk is a student competition initiated by ICT Academy devoted to bring out inspiring ideas among students in
the colleges in form of highly effective and inspiring talks. Youth Talk encourages students from all disciplines currently
studying in colleges to deliver short talk to their peers on their inspiring ideas and thoughts to change lives, attitudes etc.
The talk was on Technology, Engineering, Science, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Business, Management, Media,
Entertainment and National and International Issues (non-political), and any topic that contributes to a transformation.
This initiative identifies young, powerful communicators who can drive their ideas to inspire students participating in the

An Autodesk fusion 360 software CAD competition

ICT Academy in association with Autodesk organised Design Now - An Autodesk fusion 360 software CAD competition
during the year 2016-2017. It was conducted as a 3 day workshop for the students, followed by the Design Now Competition
