DEVELOPMENT OF SEVERE ACCIDENT ANALYSIS MODEL ON AP1000 NPP
USING RELAP / SCDAPSIM. To enhance the capability in science and technology as well as expertise in the nuclear field that supports the operation of a nuclear power plant (NPP) in Indonesia securely and safely, the development of severe accident analysis models of the AP1000 nuclear power plant in anticipation of accident in Fukushima nuclear power plant has been carried out. The development of this model aimed to provide a model that can predict AP1000 Thermal Hydraulics response in the event of a severe accident. The methods used include: collecting AP1000 data required for RELAP/SCDAPSIM program, developing AP1000 cooling system nodalization for RELAP5 and AP1000 core nodalization for SCDAPSIM, as well as applying the accident scenario that resembles the Fukushima Dai-ichi NPP accident. The model is built so that it is able to predict the reactor system behavior in normal operation as well as in accident conditions include severe accident. The model has been constructed in the form of AP1000 NPP nodalization, data input, and simulation scenarios for severe accidents for RELAP / SCDAPSIM code. The test of the model has been performed by simulating an accident that initiated with the incidence of loss of offsite power (LOOP) on the AP1000 reactor. The analysis results consist of the Thermal Hydraulics responses of reactor coolant system with the passive safety features in operated and not operated. From the results of this analysis found that in the case of the passive safety systems worked then the reactor is in safe condition and vice versa in the case the all passive safety systems are assumed fail then a severe accident expected to occurred, the fuel rods began to melt about 15215 seconds (~ 4,2 hours) of the initial accident.
