Movie Poster Analysis.

In the first movie poster of the film King Arthur the character in the image is front and center in the mid
shot. The use of cinematography thus portraying him as the protagonist of the film and the main role.
His body upright body language illustrates that he is strong. Additionally, his serious facial expression
suggests he is determined and ready for whatever mission ahead of him. The use of chiaroscuro on his
face accompanied with the misty fog presents him as mysterious. The prop used for the image is a large
sword held by the protagonist depicting him as in control and powerful and elicits a sense of awe and
hopefulness for the main character.

In comparison, the image used for the second movie poster, Kong Skull Island the protagonist is
portrayed through an extreme long shot with the antagonist in the background. The size large size of the
beast compared to the protagonist depicts him as vulnerable. Furthermore, the large skull that the
character is standing on is also a lot larger than him. The audience would assume that the giant creature
is what killed whatever skull he is standing on and thus suggests that he is in much greater danger than
expected. The use of characters loose body language as he looks up shows just how in shock he is;
though we cannot see his facial expression the mise-en-scene suggests to the audience that he is most
likely terrified. The smoke grenade that the soldier is holding also creates a sense of danger as the color
of the smoke is green- a color often associated with fear and danger.
